This will be interesting. I've often wondered what would happen if we didn't have to put up with politicians as leaders all the time. If course this is Italy, the phrase "jump from the frying pan into the fire" comes to mind.

You're not slow at all. And for the record, what really went out the window was republicanism (i.e. the republican form of government). So anyone who is cheering this on is cheering on authoritarianism and is against the idea of a republic.
