Another question that someone raised, is why no asst. coaches ever leave Penn State to go on to coaching their own teams.

The interim coach has been there for 30 years!

Ever heard of George Welsh? Left Penn State to coach Navy, then went on to UVa.

Back when Penn State was an “Independent” they put a lot of assistant coaches at other independent programs. That’s like 30 years ago, but Navy, Rutgers, Temple, UVa, are a few off the top.

“The interim coach has been there for 30 years!”

There you have it, and chances are he knew also. Penn State found themselves in an insulated, Paterno worshiping cult of personality.

That whole thing last Saturday was a huge PR exercise. Kneeling on the field, moment of silence for the victums, what a load of crap. It was orchestrated to show a national audience “look at how contrite and concerned we are, we really, really care, see...” It was a PR stunt to get sympathy for and to launch a re-worship of Paterno. What a total load of BS.
