On what do you base your suspicion?

I suspect your suspicion might be based on the notion that had he said what’s been reported, you would have to disagree. But since he’s your guy you don’t want to disagree with him. Solution: change his words.

I’m still going with the sarcastic theory “Remember, I’m not “supposed” to know anything about foreign policy”. Kind of mocking the criticism against him.

But I could also see him saying “everthing”, or at least MEANING to say “everything”.
