Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Sunday that he strongly supports a federal mandate requiring citizens to buy health insurance a position that has been rejected by many Republicans, including several who likely will be running against him for the Republican presidential nomination.
Appearing on NBCs Meet the Press, Gingrich told host David Gregory that he continues to advocate for a plan he first called for in the early 1990s as a Congressman, which requires every uninsured citizen to purchase or acquire health insurance.

You people sowed the wind, don't start crying now that you are reaping the whirl wind.
No that was the Newt cheerleaders. The same people pimping Newt now ran around here in 2007/2008 telling us what political “genius” it was to run McCain.
Find it odd when Cain was it you had no problem helping smear him

I am voting for http://hermancain.com
He has never supported a healthcare mandate. In fact
he B-slapped Clinton on it publicly.
here is the video

Virtually all of your posts are argumentative. I expect this from liberals, but not from conservatives.
Couldn't agree with you more on that point.
My answer would start with getting the Govermnet out of the medical field, letting insurance companies compete like auto insurance companies do then rates would drop dramatically and more people could actually afford insurance against catastrophic events.
We also need to concentrate on changing the belief that every time you go to the doctor, a third party should pay for it.
I know one thing for certain, unless we're guaranteed that we're going to get a Tea Party ruled congress, we better get rid of obama.
Constantly bashing what we have to choose from is getting us no where. And that's all I see here lately is the same people posting negative articles over and over again....just makes me wonder what is going on here.
JMO or course.
I don’t want to argue with you Fred. Herman Cain is a decent guy, and you have your reason to support him, I hope. Not support because he’s the best of the worst. I sent Cain $100 two weeks ago.
Are you really for anyone or do you just attack any candidate who may be near or ahead of yours. Why don’t you do what you have advised others to do and support your candidate instead of denigrating others.
I’ve seen you make the claim that Newt was responsible for creating the Department of Education on another thread. Can you please provide a source/link for that. I find it amazing that a Freshman Congressman had the power to create a new cabinet position.
This healine is false. Newt backs the repeal of Obamacare. I heard from his own mouth.
Newt has been working for two years to repeal Obamacare and supports the lawsuit brought by 26 states for repeal. Heard it from his own mouth last night.
It’s on this video for one thing:

So, I take it that you agree with Newt's decision to prosecute Clinton for MonicaGate instead of ChinaGate?
And he voted for the department of education. Ever wonder what happened to the schools and colleges?
I hear Gingrich explain this yesterday, he supported “individuals health care accounts for all Americans” back when they were fighting Hillarycare. He does NOT support Obamacare and in fact has been working since its was adopted to repeal it.
You people are probably the same ones shouting he served divorce papers to his wife on her death bed when that was demonstrably false also.
I mean, that’s it exactly, I see him having trouble getting a toehold anywhere before Florida.
His record is mixed at best. Lots of statist votes and character problems which the press will home in on.
