STATE COLLEGE, Pa (Reuters) - The lawyer for the Penn State football coach charged with child sex abuse said in an interview on Monday the boy at the center of a 2002 incident detailed in the grand jury's report had been identified and said it never happened.
Jerry Sandusky, the former defensive coordinator for the Penn State Nittany Lions, was arrested more than a week ago on charges he sexually abused eight young boys over a 15-year period.
Speaking to sportscaster Bob Costas, Joe Amendola, who represents Sandusky, said "we anticipate we're going to have at least several of those kids come forward and say, 'This never happened.'"
Sandusky, in a telephone interview with Costas that aired at the same time, acknowledged he had horsed around and showered with children involved in the Second Mile charity he founded.
But he denied he was a pedophile.

Also, the Government has a legitimate responsibility to protect the innocent from the evil, so this is not an issue of the Gov't overstepping it's powers.
Just because this is FreeRepublic' doesn't mean it is anti-Government.
You need to go to a anarchist site.

No one is accusing Petrano of all the evil in the universe, just not reporting a crime.
Which he clearly did not do.

Petrano, if he had any decency, would have resigned himself and not force the trustee's hand to fire him.
He was a man without honor, as was the President, who also had to be fired.

As much as you KNOW that he didn't witness the assault on the child.

Sounds like it from the posts defending Petrano!

So, showering with young boys, alone, at night, seems normal to you?

No, some people don't want the 'burden' of making moral judgments, that is why this pedophile is still walking around free.
It is 'easier' to say 'I don't know' and then close their eyes, just like Petrano did.

I guess I am among the older fashioned who want to see proof, lest at the least precedent is set once more for the kind of witch hunt that once took down a whole preschool on things that were never shown to be more than imagination.
By all means depose the witness and see what the witness’s story becomes under cross examination. See if there are more witnesses and more plaintiffs. Hush money would not be legal if it is to cover a crime, not an alleged tort, so any such agreements could be busted wide open.
Trials still exist for a reason.

Yep, he is buying off the victims.
If your child were involved, could you be bought off?

Gee,and I guess being in the shower with a young boy in the middle of the night, at the University, doesn't seem odd to you?
Just a little quirky?
Having a little harmless fun with a naked 10 yr old?
Open your eyes and read the GJ report.

It should haven't affected anything, a crime involving a young boy was reported to Petrano.
So if the same thing was reported to you, you would do what?

Do you actually think that Paterno is called Petrano?
To: fortheDeclaration
It may be un-normal, yet to those who do not excite their imaginations, it may not amount to tort or crime. If you think you smell smoke you investigate, but you don’t flood the whole house “for safety’s sake” if you can’t yet locate a source.

When the local and State governments aren't doing what they ought to, then the Fed's need to step in.
That was why the Feds had to come in against the Mob in cities like Chicago where everyone was bought off or intimated.

Let’s put that GJ report on the stand and cross examine it by all means. This scandal calls for sunshine, not dark cloudy blind umbrage.

Aren’t they Republicans there at Penn? I think you’d see Obama stomp on them all right.

Oh, and the proper word is “intimidated.”
But surely Penn State is not part of an extended mob, and surely some of the affected persons have moved elsewhere since.

McQurery initially told Petrano, so he was covered.
So McQuery is lying about what he saw?

If your child were involved, could you be bought off? It has happened. See the parents of Mary Jo Kopechne and how the Kennedy Mafia did it.

Protecting CHILDREN who are the victims here isn't a democrat or republican issue, it is a HUMAN ISSUE.
Your defense of conservatism is quite pathetic.
