The other thing is this. It’s not that this guy says, I saw this, or I saw that. It’s not that he corroborates her story.
What’s bad is that he says WE MET CAIN. Cain says, I have no idea who she is. That’s a big disconnect. If Cain backpedals now and says something like, I guess I didn’t remember meeting her....
It’s like the old saying: Is there anything I need to know vs. is there anything I should know. I wonder what sort of conversations Cain has had with his advisors.
That's a big disconnect only insofar as it is reasonable to expect Herman Cain to remember every single person he ever met.
You can meet someone but know nothing about them.
That is still a truthful statement. Unless they were close acquaintances for a long period of time, I don’t think Cain’s saying he doesn’t remember her would strike me as being strange.
I would have the same reaction. Is there any particular reason you want me to recall about someone who wasn’t even a friend of mine?
That’s exactly the point.
Have you ever been to a large convention? Do you know how many people you’d meet? Even from your own company that you rarely see? And having evidence they met does that mean her other charges true. And remember this is HIS word this happened. It’s HIS word that her job required her to be there all the time (guess what, it was the job of the waiters, greeters, etc. too). Do we have a job description to even know whether this was the case? Look, we’re talking about the reputation of another human being. This is very, very serious. This isn’t only about a presidential candidate. This is about a man who is a good Christian, who has spent a lifetime building a reputation and we’re supposed to believe people with less than stellar reputations (reputations they’ve EARNED according to those who know them) over Mr. Cain? I hope to God nothing like this ever happens to you or someone you love. And given how often the media has to walk back their accusations, I’m betting once they completely destroy this man, there will be the usual retractions in small print on page 12. Meanwhile, he can never get his reputation back. There will always be lingering doubt, there will always be that pubic hair on a coke can.
