You’re wasting your time. Go read post #9 and see what I mean. You can’t communicate with these people. They have been reduced to a bloodthirsty mob with the collective intelligence of a retarded gorilla.

Paterno’s actions as outlined in the grand jury report support the idea that he did his part, going to his superior and the head of campus police and putting them in touch with the actual witness. He was not found to have any fault after a three year grand jury investigation. You might think that 60 years of service to the community and the University with no character questions might buy him the benefit of the doubt, but apparently not. Paterno isn’t even being investigated or accused of anything, but every asshole with a keyboard and microphone is claiming he supported and protected a child rapist. That’s sickening to me and this site has been a complete embarassment on this issue.

Why was he relieved of his duties?

“Paterno isn’t even being investigated or accused of anything”

Yet. He just “lawyered up.”

Your right I am wasting my time. However Penn state is more then just football and theres no reason to drag everyone down for the sins of a few.

From Today's WSJ:

Why did so many people—including Paterno, a man who by all accounts has lived an honorable life—not intervene? No one was required to do heroic acts; all that was needed were individuals who understood their most basic moral (and legal) duties. And yet everyone involved failed the test. It's impossible to know with certainty why they did; each individual case was undoubtedly influenced by different factors. But one cannot help but believe that the actors in this tragedy did not want to rock the boat. Football is iconic at Penn State; perhaps they thought they were protecting the institution many of them had come to love. Instead, they have brought to it disgrace. It's not the first time people who thought they were defending a noble institution ended up dishonoring it.

I agree with you. I thought there was a better “fiber” here at FR.
