Via Mediaite, what do you think? You think the famously cautious Romney would be willing to start his term with a nasty confirmation hearing featuring lots of mud-slinging by Democrats about sexual harassment? You think a President Perry or President Gingrich would be any more eager for that? (Newt seems more inclined towards a John Bolton type, which would present problems of a different sort.) Ironically, Cains a better prospect for VP now than he is for a cabinet position precisely because thats the only path to power left for him that would avoid the need for congressional approval.
Heres a list of Romneys foreign policy and national security advisors, incidentally. Chertoff, Hayden, Cofer Black: All respect to Cain for his Navy work, but somehow I dont see President Mitt installing an establishment outsider atop the defense pyramid when he has a stable like that. Given his economic focus and personal charm, Cain would be better off with an ambassadorship. What about Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan? (Yes, I know, ambassadors need to be confirmed too.)

Wouldn’t vote for Perry for dog catcher either.
Texas has a Surplus
The purpose of these interviews is to stop the tools from the Romney campaign from leaking, yes leaking, that Cain is only in this race to be a VP.
Here in Texas about 20 years ago, we commissioned GM plants around Dallas to provide us fleet vehicles flex-powered with Compressed Natural Gas and distilled petroleum gas.
There were a couple of explosions, and the tort lawyers shut down what could have been the impetus to move CNG nationwide.
Texas has been TRYING to provide alternate energy forever. Perry wants to get us back there.
He’s done
a fine job as Gov for over a decade.
Thank you for the clarification (wiping fear sweat off brow). Faith restored. HotAir is off my daily reading list.
Your close to the mark.
I think Cain is letting people know that he wouldn't take VP from Romney so that people know up from to not expect a Romney/Cain ticket. Like the McCain/Palin ticket where people held their noses and voted for McCain because they really liked Palin. I think he's letting people know to NOT vote for Romney, thinking you will get Cain.
I think the reason he said he would take a DOD position in a Romney cabinet is so he can protect the DOD budget. jmo
Cain and Gingrich are buddies
Cain is Fred Thompson
Gingrich is McCain
Thank you ... see post #47.
Negative.
Rick Perry could’ve been up in the polls against Obama on October 15 (in theory, let’s say 51-49) and if he performed in a debate against Obama like he performed on Wednesday, he’d lose by at least 10 points.
Perry is either a laughingstock, or is merely someone that no Republican who wants a chance to win would accept as a nominee.
Romney’s leaking like a sib and the other candidates should be smelling blood in the water. Release the sharks. LOL!
Perry has been a decent executive.
For 3 terms, and he is outperforming Obozo on the things that matter.
He is out performing Cain on job creation.
I like leaders that spend their time getting legislation passed.
I don’t hire them to yuk it up on stage.
Those Hot Air hacks remind me of little kids who wear grown-up clothes as they sit around a table and drink RINO-flavored Kool-Aid and pretend to be conservative.
If only that were true. If you think a Republican can waltz into the White House next November you had better think again.
Obama will have a BILLION Dollars to throw everything he has at the Republican Nominee. Remember, Republicans hope people are smart but Democrats know people are stupid.
As Han Solo told Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars Movie, “don't get cocky kid”.
