He said he wouldn’t apologize for proposing a combination of tactics to crack down on illegal immigration that would include a fence, "and it might be electrified. I’m not walking away from that. I just don’t want to offend anyone."

Herman Cain apologizes for comments on border fence

And Romney has supported a fence and border security at least since 2008, and was supported by Tom Tancredo and Sheriff Joe in 2008. And, recall that George W. Bush firmly opposed amnesty and "rewarding illegal behavior" during the 2004 debates with pro-amnesty John Kerry.

Most all candidates dance around this issue to some extent, but Perry is by far the most disingenuous on the issue this go round. A guy who approved in-state tuition, has long opposed a border fence and opposed E-Verify in his state is not to be trusted on campaign year rhetoric. He's another Jorge Bush and Juan McCain on this issue, and that's why he nosedived in the polls as soon as the voters realized it.

You should stop misrepresenting other candidates stances in order to make Perry look better. He has shown us what he is on this issue based on past decisions.

When I see a guy shout from the top of his lungs "It will be electrified with a sign that says "this will kill you!"

And the next day says it was a joke. Then a week later says it might be electrified but I don't want to offend anyone, it's clear he is pandering.

Perry has not been disingenuous, he just doesn't talk out of both sides of his mouth when it comes to securing the border.

You see I know what Rick Perry will do because he has done it and has touted it for some time. I don't know what Herman will do because he is very wishy washy on the subject. If he can say "it may be electric" why should I believe he has any fortitude to do anything. You are requiring me to trust him but his words are a mish mash. I can't vote for someone who talks like that.

Either stand your ground or don't talk about it in the first place.

Voting for Cain requires one to turn off their common sense and trust him.

when you actually watch the interview it is clear he is winging it. Post the video if you dare.

By the way, I don't like E-Verify because it's just one more government intrusion in to the citizens life to stop what can be stopped by enforcing laws and securing the border.

E-Verify is a freaking terrible idea if your an American citizen. 9-11 caused enough erosion of our freedoms.

Also you put a link to Cain apologizing for the electric fence then you post a transcript where there might be one. DO you see how he is pandering and there is no way to really know what he will do.

You can promote Romney as a border security guy all you want but that will never fly. Are you telling me he has the fortitude to do it?

Herman is more concerned about offending anyone than about what he thinks is best for border security?

Cain does this over and over: make comments that he has to apologize for and/or he says he was just joking when someone is offended or objects. No Muslims in his cabinet, 2 full days talking about “insensitive” rocks, alligators and electric fences that “will kill you.”
