EXCERPT
Not everyone is convinced the case has been handled appropriately.
The district attorney in neighboring Clinton County, Ted McKnight, said he believes Gricar was the victim of foul play. The case, he said, should have been handled accordingly, meaning it would belong to the district attorney’s office in Union County — the county where Street of Shops is located — and not to the police department in the borough where Gricar lived.
“They aren’t the people who ought to be involved. I have been saying that from day one,” said McKnight, a district attorney for 22 years. “It shouldn’t be the hometown people.”
Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico said he believes the local police and Centre County district attorney’s office had done everything they could.
“To have a colleague basically disappear from the face of this Earth is troubling. ... No resources should go to waste in a case like this,” Marsico said.
Speculation abounds
Patty Fornicola, Gricar ‘s girlfriend, lives in the house she shared with him for more than three years. She said she is still disappointed when she arrives home each day and he is not there.
Fornicola underwent a lie-detector test, administered by the U.S. Secret Service, that established her willingness to do anything to help with the search.
