I haven’t posted to you since you told me not to while you were defending Cain’s inconsistency on abortion law a few weeks ago. However, you have crossed a very important line here by giving a medical opinion that you are not in any way qualified to make. A practicing neurologist wouldn’t be able to make a positive diagnosis from these debates.

However, as a Family Physician, I can rule out syndromes.

I would be very comfortable confirming that forgetting a point while speaking is not a sign of a neurological problem. He is logical, goal oriented, his memory is otherwise intact and organized and connected for complex concepts and collections.

The pattern that I’ve noticed is that he appears to be thinking the issues through anew, as he goes along, rather than spewing slogans and sound bites.

I thought the opposite - I thought he was relying on campaign slogans and sound bites too much. That business about planting a flag in the middle of America that says "America is open for business again" was right out of his 2010 gubernatorial campaign, just substitute "Texas" with "America".

But I can't explain the stumble. The point he was making was right out of his campaign and should have been a simple soundbite - he's talked a lot about cutting or reducing those departments. He didn't come up with that off the cuff, which makes it all the more strange.

This is his signature issue. It should not require "thinking the issues through anew".

I have read your bio and done a little research on the organizations you highlight there. It seems that you have done considerable work with Mrs. Perry in the past and perhaps know the Perrys rather well.

With all due respect, (and I honestly mean respect) you may, perhaps, be too close to the family to be offering objective opinions regarding his performance tonight and his overall fitness for the position of President of the United States.
