As if eight yeas of Bush's malaprops weren't enough, the GOP trots out another, perhaps worse evocation of the "conservatives are stupid" meme.
Thinking on one's feet is just part of the job of being President. We simply cannot afford to have a Republican President making constant gaffes in press conferences, in negotiations with foreign dignitaries, or (for example) speaking in international fora. The press would have a field day to the point that it would be hugely damaging to conservative members of Congress as well anyone he might endorse in a state or local election. He is simply unacceptable on this criterion alone.
Perry has had ample opportunity to get it together and has failed, thus casting serious doubt on his electability as well. With his numbers this low, it is not going to get any better now.

How'd that 'ole Kenny Rogers song go?...
"There'll be time enough for gloatin'...when the votin's done"
This is a crazy election cycle and I'm not counting ANYBODY out, until they quit or the election is over.

Bush won back to back Presidential elections, love the troops, was pretty selfless, still managed 5% unemployment after 9-11.
bus was an excellent President, he just liked to spend and he was too nice. Perry doesn't like to spend.
