I actually think you may be right.
It makes sense, I wondered why were they so afraid to bust Sandusky...if it was just simply one guy doing this, what’s the big deal, it wouldn’t impact the program that much....as long as he was out of the picture.....but there was a reason he was protected, could it have been what he knew about the program, and threatened them to tell them everything if he was taken down? How was the lid on all this activity kept under wraps for so many years? That doesn’t happen unless very powerful people are involved.
The 64-dollar question here is, what did Paterno know? Now my assumption is that he was all-seeing, and all-knowing? After all, why was he so anxious to hang onto his job, and unwilling to step down, even at the age of 84? For the most part, I thought, well he’s earned the right to go out on his own terms, and what’s he going to do without football, so let him stay? But now it seems he stayed on, so that things wouldn’t be discovered, as they would have been once he left. Maybe true, maybe not...but there’s a lot of odd there, and as Aldo Raine, said in ‘Inglourious Basterds’, “We got a word in English for that kinda odd, it’s called ‘Suspicious.’”
