Penn State trustees fire football coach Joe Paterno and PSU president Spanier

Penn State trustees fired football coach Joe Paterno and university president Graham Spanier (SPAN-yer) amid the growing furor over how the school handled sex abuse allegations against an assistant coach.

The massive shakeup Wednesday night came hours after Paterno announced that he planned to retire at the end of his 46th season.

But the outcry following the arrest of former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky on molestation charges proved too much for the board to ignore.

One key question has been why Paterno and other top school officials didn't go to police in 2002 after being told a graduate assistant saw Sandusky assaulting a boy in a school shower...

I wonder how much the football team knew about this. I would think it would be difficult to keep secret from the team that Sandusky regularly raped children in the shower. If the players knew about it and didn’t care as long as they got major media attention, I hope Nebraska runs up the score on them and buries them. Humiliates them.

At this point there are a few questions I hope get answered.

1. How many boys were raped?

2. How many people knew about it? We KNOW that a lot of people knew. I bet the number of tacit accomlices is much higher.

3. Was anyone else involved in pedohphilia? I’m afraid this might be the case.

4. Where are all the victims now? How are they?

“those who let it continue.”

Wow.

In EVERY inner city there are intersections where drugs are openly dealt. EVERYONE knows about it. The City Government, the police, and literally thousands of others. It goes on unabated. Everyone knows and no one does a thing to stop it. Deaths due to OD are the result. Some of them are children.

How responsible, MORALLY, are “those that let it continue”?

EVERY UNIVERSITY in America gives a “wink and a nod” to underage drinking. Every year kids die. How responsible, are “those that let it continue”.

WE ALL KNOW that the internet is full of child pornography.
It has made life so much easier for pedophiles. What is being done about it? If we stand by, and do nothing, knowing about it, are WE “those that let it continue”?

Right is Right and Evil is Evil no matter how close one is to a situation. Not being as close to the situation is a sorry, lame-ass excuse.

Why did the Lord Jesus say to the men, fully confident that they were about to do the right thing and stone the adulterous woman, “Let Him without sin cast the first stone.” None did. The Lord tells the woman “GO, and sin no more.”

Is there a pecking order of who to forgive? I’ll confess I’m in no mood to forgive Sandusky. He must be held legally responsible for the rape he has committed. Paterno, McQueary, and the others need to be held legally responsible too. If this is the one time in life these men(outside of Sandusky) failed to do the right thing, does that mean they are forever to be despised and rejected? How, and can, they ever make things right?

I seem to remember my biblical teaching just fine. My bible says that sodomizing children is about the purest form of evil there is. And that covering up that abomonation is about 99% as bad.

The people on this thread excusing this fiasco/those involved in it are every bit as vile to me as Sandusky, the PS management, Paterno and the rest. Liberals is the nicest thing I can say about them.

I am wondering if the pervert had any stuff to use against the administration or Paterno, etc.?

You obviously haven’t read the grand jury report. I can’t even respond to you because you don’t even understand the timeline.

Your problem is that I have read the GJ report and you can't figure out how to overcome my arguments and have to resort to personal attacks.

Because I’ve read the grand jury report and much of what people are saying here is at odds with it. Plus using things like ‘witness’ and ‘cover-up’ and trying to pin that on Paterno.

Paterno - as of today, right now - is guilty of negligent inaction. He set a high bar for his program and morally he has to answer to the bar he set. He did. He lost his job and in the court of public opinion he is being excoriated for his inability to live up to the bar.

If we are to extend that into something criminal on JoePa, frankly more fact not now known are going to come out to prove that, cuz the grand jury report doesn’t. Not so with Curley, Schultz, etc. The grand jury report specifically details their willful obstruction and repeated ignoring of the law.

There are people here who seem to want to engage in moral bloodlust and catharsis only and want to rant and rave till Armageddon on the evil JoePa. I WANT JUSTICE. Justice for everyone who was actually enabling Sandusky for years. As in prison time.

Your tacit support of those aiding and abetting a serial homosexual pedophile shows exaclty why this is a huge problem.

2. I’m going to wait to judge Paterno. He did something wrong, that is clear, but whether it was a bad lapse in judgment vs. a heinous moral failure remains to be seen.

BS. He knew exactly what had happened and IF HE DIDN”T he committed a heinous moral failure if he didn’t investigate.

“Is there a pecking order of who to forgive?”

Yes. People who participate in pedophilia and those who excuse/allow it are at the bottom of that list. To compare it with under age drinking in any capacity is disgusting.

“I’ll confess I’m in no mood to forgive Sandusky. He must be held legally responsible for the rape he has committed. Paterno, McQueary, and the others need to be held legally responsible too. Considering the subject matter? You damn right.

“How, and can, they ever make things right?”

They need to work that out with God and the kids raped, not you or I.

Once JR sees this thread, I ‘think’ the lightning will fly and deservedly so if it does. Way too much Pedo/homosexual excuse/support for a conservative site.

Amazing the words some use to try to excuse Joe. Don’t they read what they are writing? Are they somehow equating raping boys as something that is not that big of a deal?

Arguments? How about hyperbole. You have assigned all sorts of motives and intentions and knowledge to people without any proof that that was actually the case. I wonder exactly how you can read these people’s minds without ever having even done a simple interview. Your speculations about JoePa have no evidence to back them up.

On the other hand I do have the grand jury testimony that says these things were in fact true with Curley, Schultz, and others in the PSU hierarchy, not to mention the campus cops. I’m going with what I do know until I know something else.

This is a story about Penn State firing Joe Paterno. Joe Paterno is not a homosexual and I don’t think I’d classify him as part of any homosexual conspiracy.

People who aid and abet homosexual pedophilia are part of the problem. Now you’re aiding and abeting those who aid and abet, plus saying homosexuality is no big deal. At least one third of all child molestation is same sex. Homosexuals are a danger to society in general and children in particular.

Watched the video of Paterno in front of his house with the students. God and little boys were the last thing on his mind. He was laughing and smiling talking about how great life was with all the support he was getting. Actually shedding a tear or too of joy. The dude's mind don't work right.

I wondered why were they so afraid to bust Sandusky...if it was just simply one guy doing this, what’s the big deal, it wouldn’t impact the program that much....as long as he was out of the picture...

Here’s the dirty little secret...Coincidently or maybe not. From 2000-2004 Penn State had their worst win-loss record (26-33) over any 4 year period in the history of the program. If this scandal would have come out then JoePa surely would have been gone as there was already a clamor to fire him over his losing ways. Websites like firejoepa.com and even former players were calling him telling him it was tme to go.

RE my post at 525...

IMO, the problem is that we as a people, even many Conservatives in name only, have devolved to the point that as long as we get what we want, others can suffer.

“So some little kid got sodomized... Penn State is playing this weekend and we’re having a party/BBQ at my place. Doesn’t hurt me...and besides, all those people are gonna be hurt just because of one little kid? Come on! we are talking hundreds of millions of dollars here, thousands of jobs and a Football Dynasty! You wanna put one little kid over all that????”

Any person with a gram of morality and decency would deck the idiot saying that but there are so many saying and thinking that exact thing right now, it shows you that America is pretty much toast. And we got that way because liberals incrementalized that very philosophy into mainstream consciousness.

Note the above was the EXACT rationalle given in defense by Hollywood RE Polanski. I just changed the words to fit this situation. The overal excuse is one and the same.

And until Conservatives and Liberals alike will stop living in fear/denial and openly and loudly admit that man on boy pedo is a homosexual occurance, we cannot even begin to address the situation effectively.

Thing major sex ring. They couldn't bust Sandusky because he had all the names. I bet DA Gricar did also but we may never know since he went 'missing'.
