Maybe back during the Marshall Plan, we should have given Germany "strict terms and conditions" for repayment, as well as "austerity" requirements. Think they would have had a Wirtschaftwunder then?

We did that with the Marshall Plan which was intentionally punitive toward Germany per FDR. It was revenge. Not until the artificial restraints on German recovery did their ‘miracle’ occur.
