The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will run the first-ever Emergency Alert System (EAS) test for 30 seconds
Wednesday at 2 p.m. EST,
which will be used to inform Americans in the case of a national emergency.
*snip*
The alert, administered in conjunction with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), will be used to inform Americans in the event of a national emergency, should other modes of communication be unavailable.

lol. Mine too. Now if only they would cancel the local tests. Those are the worst. Sometimes they “test” two or three times a week and claim “this is the weekly test of the local broadcasting system”.....UGH!!!!! Oh and I can see them starting this somehow with the internet....at least I would not put it past them.
That happens here all the time..and it is annoying.
.. Ping!
This test does involve the internet. I got a long message from my ISP explaining how to handle it, including advice on how to reboot. Just in case there were problems.

Oh great. I never received it yet and hope I never do.
Broadcasters (both radio and TV) are required to do at least one “Weekly Test” every week and one “Monthly Test” every month (more than that is overkill). If they do not do the required tests, they can lose their broadcast licenses from the FCC. Blame the government, not the local radio or TV station.

I’m sure it’s all a coincidence that these are going on all at the same time.
Maybe I should put on my AFDB (aluminum foil deflector beanie), too!

ANY connection ??
I always wonder if they are testing it for Obama. I keep picturing him interrupting our tv program saying he’s going for a coup. That’s if he doesn’t get reelected. If he does get reelected then he would still use it, but just for hypnotizing us. Jeez, I hope I don’t have that nightmare again.
Exacty my NOAA radio goes off every Wed. and the EBS on the TV all the time.OVERKILL is correct. So why the DRILL tomorrow?
That’s ALWAYS my nightmare ...
Dear Lord, have mercy on us.
The witch Gov of NC already said all elections should be cancelled do Obama can ruin the country further and make more fake green jobs and get all his fat cats rich...
It would not shock me something big is going to happen I feel it.

This will be the first time, ever, that all stations in the U.S. will send and broadcast a EAS test at the same time, in a chain so to speak, to see if they work connected. If an indidual station has problems, the FCC will investigate to see waht went wrong. Licensed radio and TV station general managers that fail to do the test as required can be arrested and face jail time.
I make my living trading stocks and options on the internet. Is this going to shut me down about the time I pull the trigger?
Can you say stock market crash. At least a big nose dive.
