The strongly argued claim here is that Paterno is all-knowing and all-powerful in Happy Valley and covered up Sandusky's acts for the good of the all-important football program.
I'm not buying that as of yet. My belief is that Sandusky had him and a lot of people fooled, and that Paterno actually trusted Curley and Schultz to do a decent investigation regarding McQueary's claim.
I suspect that there might have been a little bit of self-denial on his part as well (I've known Sandusky for 30 years, I know his kids etc.)
Of course, I could be wrong and that it turn out that JoePa is a cynical cold-hearted, power-hungry bastard capable of anything.
But I don't get that from the Grand Jury report, and I'm not inclined to put him there yet.
You betcha. The janitors were absolutely afraid of being fired. Their testimony.
Facts show that they did not and Joe knew they did not. Facts show that Joe kept quiet and allowed Sandusky to rape little boys for seven more years.
