Because....if McQueary did indeed tell Joe exactly what he saw...then Joe downplayed it to his superiors.

However, McQueary met directly with Curley and Schultz. That, legally and technically, removes Joe from the picture since he had reported the incident to an officer of the school (Curley).

My problem after that point would be....the regular sightings of the monster at the games, tailgating, banquets, practices....with boys.

No one thought this odd?

And are we to believe Joe couldn’t ban anyone from the football universe if he saw fit?

You left out "morally" and "ethically".

The Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner, Frank Noonan, says that Joe Paterno had a moral obligation to report it.
