There is no indication that Paterno knew anything before 2002. After McQueary reported to him, he reported to his direct superior (Curley) as well as the de facto police commissioner (Schultz). Subsequent to this, McQueary met with both Curley and Schultz. As far as anybody can see (including Paterno), there WAS an investigation going on. Paterno *didn't* know, and when he did learn something he did something about it.

However, by all means please continue your witch hunt. Mike Nifong is quite proud.
