Why would the Obama campaign spend that kind of money going after Cain before he was the nominee? That would not make sense. You make this the October surprise.

Obama wants to ensure a run against Romney. He wants Cain eliminated now.
Because that's who they want to run against. If this woman is a fraud, and it appears likely, Cain will be completely innoculated against any further accusers.

They spent nearly a billion for the last election. They plan on another billion for this one. Shouldn’t be difficult to spend 5 million to wipe one candidate at a time. Take him out before he gets momentum. These people play for keeps. Why let someone hang around long enough when you can stomp them out now.
