Yep, given the fact most of their their building codes are not up to earthquake standards...Lots of masonry too in that part of the country, with is not good in a quake.

It would. I live in SE Iowa and it’s estimated a quake that size would drop every building standing. It’s worse as you go east because the soil and bedrock are more conducive to transmitting shock waves, so the effect is more pronounced with a given size quake.
