The question was regarding the number of weeks of unemp comp. Newt gave the answer of a person having to enter an employer-sponsored training program. How would this be applied equally to the blue collar worker who ran a tool crib and the highly experienced & trained software developer? If the answer is it can’t, then what is his answer for The Other Unemployed Workers and how will it be determined who has to take training and who doesn’t?

You missed their points...the idea is to occupy the space of unemployment with more than sitting on your butt eating bon bons.

I’ve heard just about every reason for not getting a job....mostly people thinking they can’t work another job outside their field....that’s the stumbling block they refuse to get over.

I know people in the tech field who pumped gas for 6 months...they used the contacts there and actually found better work then hoped for...another waited tables...and another worked retail...all highly skilled workers who though unemeployed took part-time jobs while they were looking...I was one of them ...and also took college courses to up my skill....

Again the idea is for those unemployed to stop sitting around feeling sorry for themselves and gripping about the job market...do what you have to do to BE in the work force in some capacity and the job will surely come they are looking for.
