Why? The businesses, not taxpayers, pay for the training. Unemployment insurance pays out to the trainee, the trainee gets the training as a condition of getting unemployment, the businesses gets productive, trained workers at the end to hire on.
Training is certainly one issue for the unemployed. Employer-sponsored training programs, though, won’t work for those who are unemployed due to the economy and not their lack of skills.
If the training is paid for by the businesses, okay. But most of the “training” I’ve seen people taking recently has been paid for by porkulus.
People already have to take training or go to job fairs or whatever to “prove” they are looking for a job while on unemployment. The ones I’ve seen people go to were just rackets, where the people putting on the fairs were getting some kind of grant and, after getting their box checked, the attendees used it to continue on unemployment.
