According to the AP article “The other candidates vying for the GOP nomination were invited; only Cain and Gingrich accepted the invitation.”

and of course they would all be invited - it’s a Tea Party event.

Betcha the cowards who passed it up are gnashing their teeth tonight - but I suspicion the reason they didn’t want to debate in such an open and DETAILED forum is that they knew they’d fall on their faces.

The polls are going to be interesting this week - and the media is going to tie itself in knots. Newt’s idea of these type debates - going directly to WE THE PEOPLE, bypassing the hostile press and the ridiculous dog & pony show debates has just cut the rug out from under them AND undermines THEIR getting to decide who our candidate will be.

‘bout flipping time!

Good. There was nothing to be mad about in the first place.

And you should have posted your comments to everyone so that Perry got all the credit for Cain's performance tonight, and corrected all the silliness that both Cain and Gingrich did such a stellar job.

Cain’s style is ideal for POTUS and Newt’s is ideal for Vice-POTUS.

Yes, sweet old Cain not quite so sweet as to how he’s treated Perry.

Trashed him on The Rock.

Said he’d be anybody’s veep but Perry’s,

And, last but not least, unfairly accused him of leaking the woman story.

Yet Perry has remained the classy gentleman he is and has spoken very respectfully and kindly of Cain.

But, excuse the interruption, let the love fest continue.

Nope! Not mad anymore.

Me neither. I feel completely validated. Now, when Cain and Newt throw their support to Perry later (since they possess the same platforms) I’m just SURE all Cain and Gingrich people will do just that. Or maybe they’ll all of a sudden find Ron Paul.

But “getting better at this stuff” isn’t enough when it comes to defeating Obama in one year’s time and campaigning against him well before that.

Look, I’m a huge Cain fan but Newt’s experience shines through on every question. The historical context he utilizes with his answers is impressive and gives him a lot of credibility in the “knows what he’s talking about department”.

We have to keep our eye firmly on the ultimate goal of defeating Obama. I intend to become more familiar with Newt’s policies and proposals. Meanwhile, I look forward to more of these types of discussion/debates.

Since the debate is over, I guess it’s OK now to say Texas did that.

Well, since you bring it up, what happened to Cain’s great business career and why did he have to end up as a minor talk show host?

It’s funny how many of the things people felt was so great that they commented on them in this thread are things that are already implemented in Texas, and that are found in Perry’s book.

It’s fine for others to recognize good ideas.

Better question...

Why was Perry's Democrat nickname, "Crotch"?

Just as our nation is not as “before” so to do I give Newt the benefit of the doubt I once had of him,.... especially after spending considerable time to see what makes him any different now than before....and I’ve been watching to see if what he had spoken, of the changes and regrets he expressed, has been playing out after...and to date. It has and I’m satisfied...even his former wives are supporting his run....they’ve all moved on...and as much so has the nation from that time.

We are in a different place today...and one that is going to demand someone take the reins and go at it once their feet hit the ground. Newt can do that from the start.

CAin will not be able to do that without being propped up and most know that..even his greatest supporters, which is why they have no problem with the idea of Newt as a VP...they know he’s going to need help.

We don’t need a professor but a real communicator. I like Newt, but he is more the professor role. If Cain doesn’t improve much in another month or two, sure...time to at least consider another person because the debates with Obama will be important.

But, he seems to be doing his best talking to a lot of different people etc.

I’d take that suggestion with slightly more seriousness if you had complained about the comment I responded to. If you let people make off-comment attacks on other candidates in “your” threads, you should expect people to respond to them.

At least my comment was made up of quotes from one of the people IN the debate tonight — one of those “adult men” people were cheering on (because of course Bachmann is a woman and all).
