Where in that book did he say his motivation to fight in WWII was the invasion of the Soviet Union by Hitler?

Where in that book did he say his motivation to fight in WWII was the invasion of the Soviet Union by Hitler? He never said he was motivate to fight in WWII. In fact, he was an anti-war pacifist/socialist drafted into the army and served as a correspondent.

Where in that book did he say his motivation to fight in WWII I never said he did. What he said:
"I didn't want to go to Europe to fight and die for what seemed to me to be somebody else's cause. ... I decided I must be a Concientious Objector."
