Just IMAGINE the draw of illegals to this country if Perry was ever to REWARD them with being allowed to work legally.

If he does that, then it’s basically Amnesty, but without the right to vote - that is until the Supreme Court considers that policy unfair, and MANDATES their right to become citizens and vote.

If Perry doesn’t support Amnesty, he sure as hell is doing everything possible to effect the same thing.

The problem is you don't understand the fight. This isn't about letting them in, it's about them already being here and states having their hands tied by the feds.

Here is why Perry is right.

Its all about getting them on record.

Here is how it works now.

If an illegal that "swam across the Rio" gets pulled over in Texas and they don't have a Driver's License or any other form of ID they are going to be booked with an ID hold. That means that they will not be released until their identity is proven. There are only two ways to do that, finger prints or someone with proper ID has to either bring them their ID or has to be able to credibly vouch for them under penalty of perjury. All a cop or jailer can do is ask, 'are you an American?' If they are here illegally and have never had contact with Law enforcement in the US their prints will not be on file, they also are not going to have anyone come and get them because they will provide proof that they are here illegally. So we are left with them either telling the truth or lying. If they tell the truth we can turn them over to ICE, if they lie, we can not turn someone who claims to be an American citizen over to ICE no matter how much our gut tells us they are lying. So now they are here, stuck in jail and we have to wait until they decide jail sucks and then tell the truth. The problem with that is that jail is usually better than their village in Mexico or whatever hell hole they are from.

Even when they do make it to the Feds the Feds are going to help them file the forms they need to get a hearing and then release them back into the state until their court date, which no one will or can enforce that will probably be 5 years later anyway.

Most Illegals entered legally but have over stayed their VISA but unless USCIS has put out a warrant or deportation notice on them Law Enforcement will have no way of knowing they are here illegally. A worker ID system would change that. There would be a system to track them and ID them and deport them. However, it is all useless unless we secure the border first.
