If you see this proposal as step one in a process it is easier to understand why it is not a good thing. Politicians are all aware after their last attempt that “we the people” do NOT support amnesty- or even a path to citizenship for illegals. So those determined to help illegals now know they must get it done in increments. What seem like small concessions to illegals ALWAYS lead to bigger and bigger concessions. ALWAYS have and ALWAYS will.

We already have a LEGAL process for citizens of other countries to come here legally to work. We have a high unemployment rate among our own citizens and it has been shown that if illegals are taken out of jobs, citizens line up for the jobs. You have to ask yourself why Perry or anyone else would even propose givng illegals any sort of legitimacy to begin with.

I agree that most of the time the pols do things in increments and cannot be trusted. I don’t fully trust any of them. The problem I have is that we have millions of illegals here many working ect. What are we going to do about them short of putting them out ? are we just going to keep it like it is now ? Will the day then come when all of the millions are granted amnesty all at once ? Could what Perry is proposing be a stop gap until we can get rid of them ? I don’t know, but I don’t like the idea of them becoming citizens, period. Congress or a President could do that now and this country would be in big trouble. We have to find a way to stop it.
