Wow, is this some kind of equal-protection issue?

If he’s an illegal the penalty for his actions is deportation.
If he’s a citizen he’s facing 15 years.

The fact that he claimed to be someone else is (IMHO) an entirely separate issue. He can be charged for that offense but it doesn’t (IMHO) affect the fact that he would be given different penalties for the same crime based on his immigration status.

Exactly. This policy is an incentive for criminal immigration. People with criminal intent can come here knowing the worst that will happen is they get sent home. If they sell drugs, maybe send a lot of the money home to a foreign bank account, so you can live very well when you get deported while your citizen co-conspirators go to prison. This ain’t right.
