Good news, Coldplay fans: There is now apparently a demographic of people out there who have even less luck in the bedroom than you do.
That dubious honor goes to: fans of Nickelback!
According to music-based dating site Tastebuds.fm, Nickelback is the worlds No. 1 musical turnoff. The site, which connects potential partners based on musical taste, surveyed its users lists of deal-breakers, and nothing had folks running for the door faster than the mention of Nickelback. Apparently, listing the Canadian rockers as a favorite band on your dating profile is how you remind people that you have really terrible taste.

Big fan of Coldplay, Nickelback sux.
Maybe there is hope for humanity after all.
Wow, I’ll listen to nickleback any day over Coldplay.
Nickleback does nothing for me, but come on, listening to them isn’t painful. I’d never seek them out, but if I hear them on the radio in some public place, I don’t wince. Seems that hating them has become a sort of hipster fashion statement or way of striking a pose.
It just can’t be true. Every awful FM station can’t be wrong.
Freegards
I vote Sugar Ray and Journey...in that order.
I think it’s perfectly reasonable to hate Nickelback for a number of good reasons. One of them is this song, with lyrics that sound like the writer took ‘Chicken soup for the soul’ or some other low brow positive affirmation book, cut out the most cliche lines, and then reassembled them in random order to make a song.
My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day’s a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride
If today was your last day
And tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
If today was your last day
Against the grain should be a way of life
What’s worth the prize is always worth the fight
Every second counts ‘cause there’s no second try
So live like you’ll never live it twice
Don’t take the free ride in your own life
It continues like this for another few minutes, but I hope you see what I mean.
Yoko Ono.
I would rather listen to a circular saw cut sheet metal.
My deal breaker is Yoko Ono. Fortunately her fan base is small.
While they are vastly superior to Nickelback, I wouldn’t be surprised to find Rush on that list. OTOH, I didn’t start listening to Rush because I wanted to make it with the ladies.
Those lyrics are crap, but I find it easy to tune out bad lyrics unless, say, the singer wails them in some awful saccharine way. Nickleback, however, has mediocre but bearable pop rhythms and vocal qualities—at least for me.
Both bands are a yawnfest.
I give up, how do you get your nickel back? ;)
BTW, thanks America for taking Celine Dion.
Dang. I’ve never even heard of them until this thread. Never used a dating service either—but at least I know what they are :)
