“Could it have been the former President of the NRA who took over after Cain left, who is a Romney supporter?”

As they hinted at on O’Reilly tonight, if it comes out that ANY of the candidates for the nomination had a hand in this, this will destroy their campaign. I pray to God that it was Romney and that it comes out.

Then the Restaurant Association violated the confidentiality agreement. Cain and his campaign should stop answering questions on this matter. The news media can go research its own stories. Cain owes them nothing.

"The lawyer for one of the Cain accusers, Joel P. Bennett, just told the panel on Anderson Cooper's CNN show that it was "his understanding" that the allegation was "leaked to Politico from a Board member of the National Restaurant Association".

Well, J.P. Bennett is just a freaking genius, isn't he, given that Martin did everything but name the board member in the original Politico article:

"The first woman was identified to POLITICO by a former association board member, and her identity was confirmed by two additional sources.

The former board member recalled learning of the woman’s departure at a 1999 association board meeting and trade expo in Chicago.

“She was offered a financial package to leave the association, and she did,” said the former board member. “What I took offense at was that it was clear that rather than deal with the issue, there was an effort to hush it up. She was offered a way out to keep quiet.”

It would make sense that Romney is behind the attack. If Cain is guilty of harassment and the Dems knew about it, it would come out after we nominate Cain.

We need to vet this out. Don’t want a shoe to fall during the campaign.

I just saw where one of the bigwigs are the NRA recently came over from AARP. No doubt in my mind it was one of the liberals at the NRA who gave the information to Politico.

excerpt:

"...the woman tells how Gore greeted her at the door of his room at the Hotel Lucia for the 11 p.m. appointment with a hug that "went on a bit long," then quipped "call me Al." Hotel staff had told the licensed therapist when booking her that the client was Al Gore, but that he was going under the name "Mr Stone."

Gore allegedly asked her to focus on his abdominal area and adductors -- the inner thigh muscles -- as well as his back and other areas.

While his lower body was covered with a sheet, she said, Gore "became vocal" with "muffled moans" and asked her to go lower, getting angry when she refused.

"It appeared he was demanding sexual favors or sexual behaviors," the woman said.

She then asked Gore to show her where he wanted to be massaged and he "grabbed my hand, shoved it down under the sheet to his ***** **** area, my fingers brushing against his ***** and firmly planted my hand on his pubic crest region and said to me 'There!' in a very sharp, loud, angry-sounding tone."

The woman told police she was caught in "a perfect storm" in a room with someone who was "Teflon-coated in terms of his credibility and celebrity status"..."

Police specifically responded to claims by the woman -- who said she remained clothed through the alleged encounter -- that she had noticed her black slacks had "stains" on them.

Police said they did not collect her attire because they believed it would not provide evidence.

“At this point, the Police Bureau does not consider this an ongoing investigation unless new evidence is received in this case,” Wednesday's police statement said.

ALL THE EX-PRESIDENT'S SCANDALS
Nurse backs up Clinton rape charge
Attended Broaddrick's wounds after alleged assault in Arkansas

June 26, 2003

[a few excerpts from article...]

Kelsey recalls Broaddrick saying the meeting with Clinton began with small talk, and "she was a little surprised he was by himself."

"She said he was showing her locations outside the window there in Little Rock, and then, all of a sudden, he just kind of grabbed her and started kissing her," remembers Kelsey.

"He overtook her and pushed her to the bed, and from that point on it was just a rape."

Kelsey says Broaddrick explained how her lip became swollen: "He bit her lip to try to keep her from struggling with him."

It seems we have some literately challenged folks posting on this thread. Can we have an edit in the body of the thread that says NRA in this instance means National Restaurant Association and not National Rifle Association?

Some people are too lazy to read and rather jump to assumptions...

Former President of National Restaurant Association has Ties to the Mitt Romney Campaign

Former President of National Restaurant Association has Ties to the Mitt Romney Campaign 0diggsdiggBased on a suggestion from a local blogger to look into political donors on the Board of Directors of the National Restaurant Association for potential ties to presidential campaigns, I have attempted to identify anyone privy to inside information about the National Restaurant Association who also has recent ties to any presidential campaign.

According to the October 2011 FEC report for ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT INC. a gentlemen named Steven C. Anderson gave $1,000.00 on July 14, 2011. FEC search function here.

Steven C. Anderson is the same gentlemen who took over the helm as Chief Executive Officer at the National Restaurant Association (after a brief intermission) upon Herman Cain's departure in 1999. As CEO it is highly likely he would have been privy to details of litigation and threats about litigation from the immediately previous tenure of Herman Cain.

There is little more than a coincidence between the support for Mitt Romney and the likelihood that Mr. Anderson knows the background of the sexual harassment threats. Nonetheless, watchers of this scandal endlessly pontificate about whether President Obama or a rival campaign is the driving force behind the bombshell story that appeared in the Politico on Sunday.

Reporters should follow-up with Mr. Anderson to discern his knowledge. At the least he likely knows the short list of people with inside knowledge about the sexual harassment allegations.

~23:15 11/1/11 UPDATE: Apparently as this post has taken on a life of its own I need to clarify a few things.

1. This truly is the exact same Steven C. Anderson at the same address that gave donations while at the National Restaurant Association in the early 2000’s.

2. I have purposefully not listed his address, and made it slightly difficult to find. There is an error in the FEC database that leads to a mistaken link for those who dig deeper. Rest assured he made the donation.

3. He may not be the source. If he is not, then he likely knows the short list of people who could have been the source.

Lastly, do not forget to follow @ppradoslaw on Twitter as I broadcast to thousands of conservatives libertarians, and a handful of patient moderates, democrats, and progressives.

Joel Bennett enjoys a good scheme with John Podesta

THE REAL DEAL:

“Former President of National Restaurant Association has Ties to the Mitt Romney Campaign
Steven C. Anderson … took over the helm as Chief Executive Officer at the National Restaurant Association
Herman Cain's departure in 1999”

Whenever Team Romney had rumors they wanted to start about other candidates,
Jonathan Martin has been their go-to guy to get those rumors in writing in front of a national audience.

“And The Most Irresponsible Journalist Award Goes to The Politico’s Jonathan Martin!
So tell me, how do you write a “news” story about an organization paying for a speaker when you don’t even know if the organization is paying for the speaker?
Ask “journalist” Jonathan Martin. He knows all about it.
You see, Jonny wrote a piss poor story the other day about how the Iowa Family Policy Center will be paying a large speaker fee if Sarah Palin comes to Iowa to keynote the IFPC’s fall funderaiser.
The only problem is that Jonny has no sources confirming that any exorbitant fee is being charged or paid.
Jonny also got some inside info from David Kochel, who was a top aide to former (and future) presidential candidate, Mitt Romney.
Hey Dave, didn’t I just read a story about how Mitt Romney tried to buy off the Iowa Christian Alliance?
I heard you helped facilitate that little scheme. And somehow you are shocked at the thought of a well-known political figure (who very likely isn’t running for president) getting paid a speaker’s fee for (gasp) a public speaking appearance? ..
and then we’ve got Tim Albrecht quoted. He was the Iowa spokesman for Romney’s 2008 caucus campaign.”
And it always seemed like, whenever the Romney people had rumors they wanted to start about other candidates,
Jonny was their go-to guy to get those rumors in writing in front of a national audience.

“Cain Accuser’s Lawyer Said Case “Leaked to Politico by a Board Member of Natl Restaurant Assoc”

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2801725/posts

A friend of the Cain campaign believes a National Restaurant Association (NRA) employee out of the Chicago office leaked the story to the Perry campaign via information and influence from Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s office.

Possible tie-ins between Chris Wilson (Wilson Research Strategies, WRS), The National Restaurant Association (NRA), Former NRA Chair Ed Tinsley, Rahm Emanual, etc.

Wiki:

(Chris) Wilson served as Executive Director of the Republican Party of Texas when President George W. Bush was governor, working directly for Karl Rove, and following Karen Hughes when she left the Party to join the campaign.

Wilson served as Global Director of Research for Weber Shandwick from 1999 - 2001. He started his own firm, Wilson Research Strategies, in 1998.

WRS has six principals and was relaunched as a subsidiary of McLean, Va.-based Qorvis Communications in August. About 30 to 40 percent of the company’s work is political and its biggest clients include Pfizer, Saudi Arabia and the National Restaurant Association.

City strikes deal to keep restaurant show
Financial package worth $2 million comes after group reschedules to avoid NATO, G-8 summits

July 27, 2011|By Kathy Bergen, Tribune reporter

The National Restaurant Association announced Tuesday it will keep its show in Chicago next year, but it will move the dates to avoid overlap with the NATO and G-8 summits.

The high-profile show will be held May 5-8, rather than May 19-22, at McCormick Place, where it has been a fixture since 1950.

The decision was made after Chicago came forward with a one-time financial package aimed at reducing some losses that could occur due to the schedule change. The association, the city’s convention bureau and the mayor’s office declined to discuss the specifics of the deal.

The package is worth about $2 million and includes public and private funding sources, according to sources close to the deal. That total includes noncash items, such as marketing and attendance-building services that the bureau often provides to trade shows, sources said.

(snip)

Mary Pat Heftman, executive vice president of convention for the restaurant association, said Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the convention bureau “worked to mitigate potential losses” and pledged to help drive attendance on the new dates.

Emanuel helped to bring NATO and the leading industrial nations to Chicago using his influence as a former White House chief of staff, and he found himself scrambling to ease the resulting timing conflict.

Losing the restaurant show, even for one year, would have been a public relations nightmare for the city, which is racing to recover from a federal court ruling tossing out labor-rule changes aimed at reducing exhibitors’ costs.

The restaurant show is one of the city’s largest, this year drawing 58,000 attendees who packed hotels and restaurants, and generated an estimated $93.3 million in spending. It typically is the big game in town during its run.

NRA, Texas Gov. Perry push for ethanol waiver
June 24, 2008

WASHINGTON National Restaurant Association officials and other food industry representatives concerned about ethanol-related food inflation joined Texas Gov. Rick Perry here Tuesday to call on the Environmental Protection Agency to approve his request for a waiver of the Renewable Fuels Standard, or RFS.

Perry, backed by the NRA and other members of the recently formed Coalition for Balanced Food and Fuel, told an audience at the National Press Club that a reduction of this year’s RFS mandate would ease skyrocketing corn prices that have hurt his state’s livestock and poultry industries. Perry in April petitioned the EPA to cut the mandate from 9 billion to 4.5 billion gallons of ethanol blended into the nation’s fuel supply.
