Free Republic founder Jim Robinson has a message for supporters of Mitt Romney: go away.
In an email to POLITICO this afternoon, Robinson admitted that the site routinely blocks Romney supporters from posting -- and offered no apologies for the practice:
Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency.

I’ve seen Perry supporters doing the same thing.
And how about that Clairity, eh?
Nicely done, there’s napalm all over the target.
And why are you worried about that anyway?
If Perry starts espousing the same liberal claptrap that Romney does, then you might need ot worry.
That works both ways. Nobody can knock Palin supporters quite like the Perry crowd. The Mods had to pull some of the filthier comments. Since she's not running it has calmed down quite a bit.
The debate on here has been fast and furious. Perry supporters are not victims. They dish it too.
Does that help?
Problem is, you can put that in a three thousand foot arc light sign and there are people who would STILL not comprehend the concept.
That seems to be the popular thought. We have to elect anyone but Obama. I disagree in that I view the ENTIRE political establishment elite as the opposition, GOP included. Our country isn't in this mess because of Obama only. The Elites are depending on us to rally to whoever they choose to run. I'm not playing that game... again. We either nominate a true political game-changer to restore our constitutional government or risk getting stuck with Obama for four more years.
I like Perry just fine other than the mess he created for himself regarding the instate tuition thing for illegal aliens. I have no problem with posters supporting Perry. Wish him well. He is pro-life, pro-gun, pro-states rights, pro-constitution and pro-small government (other than the aforementioned illegal alien thing and the gardisil (sp?) fiasco). And, unlike draft dodger Romney, he served his country in uniform. God bless him and God bless Texas.
Jim...with this story on FOX and also in the Politico, can you let us know if traffic to FR goes up...I suspect it will...and maybe more will join, though I suspect you’ll have to beef up the
troll patrols”
Washingtonians and country clubbers at the RNC have run roughshod over the conservative movement for far too long.
Thanks for taking a stand, Jim, lets keep that vampire Romney out of his crypt past sunrise.
I think that would be the ideal, from a conservative point of view.
Personally, it's been my experience when it comes to political disagreement that forcing someone to defend their candidate or position in a public internet debate, using logic, facts, reason, ridicule, or whatever, more often than not it hardens their position. The more they defend their position, the more invested they become in their position.
On the other hand, if someone gets banned for arguing in support of a liberal candidate, it doesn't remove their ability to read posts on FR, and I do believe most of them continue to read. Once they're no longer feeling forced into a defensive position, they're more likely to loosen their attachement to it. It's like the internet equivalent of "take the cotton out of your ears and put it in your mouth." I think it's an effective method.
“From your (MarineDadNavyVet) FR profile page:”
Along with inalienable rights, God gave us a brain and a backbone . . . lets use them both!
Life and Liberty are inalienable rights along with the rights to bear arms, right to free speech, free press, freedom of ASSOCIATION, freedom to promote like-minded candidates and to oppose those you wish to oppose and to control the use, content and direction of your own personal private property and electronic printing press, i.e., freerepublic.com in this case.
Romneys record shows that he tramples on all of my inalienable rights. I therefore use my brain, my backbone and my inalienable rights to openly, fully and completely oppose him.
I have my God-given inalienable rights, brain, and backbone and I use them to the utmost. Have done so all my life and have no intention of changing, despite the wailing and gnashing of the teeth, and hand-wringing of some of our weaker brothers and sisters. Thankyouverymuch, newbie.
Now if you wish to support liberal progressive RINO Romney, be my guest. But youll have to do it elsewhere.
Karl Rove and the elite GOP establishment political whores can shove RINO Romney up their wazoos!”
My response—
Something get under your skin?
Is that an invitation? To leave? If so, only say the word. . . .
Of course, you are only making the point MORE CLEARLY THAN I HAVE (with my thoughtful commentary) that effective persuasion and (self) controlled expression are both more difficult and more scarce than “my way or the highway” self-righteousness.
And, ultimately, less successful and less satisfying.
“The opposition is Obama.”
If Rommney wins the primary we deserve 20 more years of misery under either him or Obama.
You are free to express any hatred that pleases you, until it displeases the owner. And who is “we”? Do you have a fellow turd in your pocket?
Yes, it is my right. And on FR I make no bones about it. FR is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-traditional American heritage. Those who wish to follow some other way are always free to take the highway. Our narrow path is for the righteous few.
Agreed--loosers, all of 'em...;^)
