Well, the last poll had Perry at +35. BC - Before Cain. :)

This is weird Herman Cain is starting to excite me. He’s kind of like an underdog sports team in the playoffs. But does he have enough momentum and skill to win it all? Man, I hope so! I am feeling like we might not be stuck with Romney and that’s a good thing!

“Teachers are mad at him because of the budget cuts.”

I’m a teacher. I am happy with the budget cuts. You might want to add, PUBLIC SCHOOL teachers.

I don’t like Perry because of the Gardasil nonsense. Forcing people to inject a bad drug into their kids is a terrible policy.

Texas retired teachers haven’t had an increase since the 90’s. How many times is their retirement going to be taken out to fund some other government project and not paid back? He may not be in charge of their retirement but he’s got his fingers in it. BTW, Cain’s getting this household’s votes.

How’s this for rational, if Perry a two time Governor of Texas is NOT trouncing all comers in a poll run by the University of Texas in Texas then Perry isn’t going to beat anyone anywhere.

Fishtalk, you object yet you obviously did not look at the link provided for crab mentality. Read the following.

Crab mentality, sometimes referred to as crabs in the bucket, describes a way of thinking best described by the phrase "if I can't have it, neither can you." The metaphor refers to a pot of crabs. Individually, the crabs could easily escape from the pot, but instead, they grab at each other in a useless "king of the hill" competition (or sabotage) which prevents any from escaping and ensures their collective demise. The analogy in human behavior is that of a group that will attempt to "pull down" (negate or diminish the importance of) any member who achieves success beyond the others, out of envy, conspiracy or competitive feelings. This term is broadly associated with short-sighted, non-constructive thinking rather than a unified, long-term, constructive mentality. It is also often used colloquially in reference to individuals or communities attempting to "escape" a so-called "underprivileged life," but kept from doing so by others attempting to ride upon their coat-tails or those who simply resent their success.

Others here also display that mentality.

If this is all the dirt that can be dug up on Mr. Cain, he’s as good as nominated.

This isn’t 20 years ago, dude.

I DID look at the link and above is a direct quote from your own quote.

I don't like being described that way but your mileage may vary. by now I forget what it's all about but yeah, I object. You may have the last word however cause I'm bored.

That's what happens to a fiscal conservative [Rick Perry] that balances the budget. At least he has a record, and a good one at that. Low taxes, balanced budget, rainy day fund, huge amount of jobs created.

Meanwhile, on FreeRepublic, the site that's supposed to support conservative ideals and advance the conservative agenda, has a large number of posts that are very unsupportive and downright libelous accusations against a sitting governor who has advanced their agenda, Rick Perry.

FreeRepublic is full of a lot of noisy morons. I hope that's not the majority here. But I wonder.

Right. Don't waste time on small lies when you can tell a big one.

Why did they pay the money, Einstein. Isn't Cain morally resolute enough to stand his ground and fight this sort of claim, that is if he was innocent as you claim?

Out here in the real world these small (five figures. come on.)settlements are commonly made by the liability insurance company representing the defendant regardless of what the facts are. They do what enables them to represent their client at the least cost to them.

That in no way whatsoever implies an admission of guilt, and in many cases typically explicitly denies an admission of guilt.

And remember, it is highly unlikely that at the time Cain ever expected to be a candidate for national office facing the democrat hate machine. No doubt he just wanted it settled and was satisfied with the result.

Indeed. Perry, like his old hero Algore, may not be able to carry his own state. What a message that will send.

And all of FR should be thankful that. Tennessee carried the water. If that idiot won here that nutjob would have been President.

Please permit me to be a pedant. "Speaketh" is archaic present tense; "spake" is past tense (eg Thus Spake Zarathustra. There is no "spoketh."

I share your dim view of Perry's position on immigration.
