I think he does it to get under OUR skin. Obama has enough intelligence and insight to know the hypocrisy of his statements. It’s a dig to infuriate us - his base doesn’t care.
Even though the topic in this instance is something as benign as food, it’s still representative of his mindset and arrogance.
