The assertions of the pro-life groups seems to be somewhat misleading, but the situation still is not good. The wikipedia page dealing with the company has a "talk" page where a poster sympathetic to Senomyx states that this company uses aborted human stem cells for testing responses to sweet substances. This makes more sense, but is less sensational than assuming that they are using these cells in the sweeteners. Of course the resulting use of fetal stem cells still is inexcusable to many of us and is clearly unnecessary.

I do not see any place that says they use the cells IN the sweetener. It is pretty clear that they are using the cells to TEST the sweetener.
I do not find the pro-life group misleading.
It is still inappropriate to use aborted cells for ANY purpose. There is not justifyable defense in my mind. Period. People who engage in this sort of “ethic” should be shunned by society.
