Time magazine columnist and CNN host Fareed Zakaria says Republican presidential candidate Herman Cains 9-9-9 tax reform plan is sloppy and, in parts, bizarre.
So he offered his own version of a tax reform plan in his weekly column in Time. In it, Zakaria argues that Americans should give the federal government half of what they inherit.
I would enact a 50 percent inheritance tax, because nothing is more un-American than an inherited elite that perpetuates itself, Zakaria wrote for the magazine.

The essence of Statism expressed.
You don’t own anything, only the State owns property, you simply have the use of it while you live if you purchase it.
It would kill Capitalism in a single generation.
Such nonsense.

Problem is we already give the government half and we are still alive...Federal, state, county, sales, taxes on utility bills, taxes (called fee’s) for a new license plate and drivers license, gas, food )sales tax( taxes for SS, income, dividends, interest, school, and many more I forgot...

Farheed has already given half his brain away in advance. A few more donations of that ratio and he'll be just as smart as the Vice President.

CNN's Fareed Zakaria: Americans should give half of inheritance to government Why?
I don't mean platitudes of why or insinuations of why. I want to know, what is the actual, concrete reason that Americans should give 50% of their inheritance to the government?

I would enact a 50 percent inheritance tax, because nothing is more un-American than an inherited elite that perpetuates itself Substantial inheritances are overwhelmingly in the form of means of production, precisely because the far greater part of the wealth of the bequestors- capitalists- is in the form of means of production. If such inherited wealth remains invested- and it almost always does when it is received in a large amount- its existence is to the benefit of everyone. In order to benefit from its existence, one need not be an heir, one need merely be a buyer of the products it helps to produce and whose supply is increased because of it. One need merely be wage earner, whose labor is in additional demand and whose wages are higher because of it.

It is truly interesting that someone moves to this country to pursue the dreams and rewards our ancestors established and fought for. Upon arriving immediately criticizes what we do and stand for.
We as the supposed sheep of the academic elite must listen and act. If we hurry we can raise our standards to those enjoyed in Bombay.

3 points: 1) It is completely “American” and human to want to benefit one’s children with the hard-EARNED wealth one may have accumulated in a productive life; 2) That which we tax, we discourage. Inheritance taxes encourage dissipation of wealth, wasteful living and risking poverty in old age in order to avoid taxation. Is that good policy?; 3) Who in the world can make a good case that government spends tax money better than citizens?
