I was watching the news in Australia last night about the future of Libya. Kevin Rudd, current Australian Foreign Minister, who is the ex ‘labor’ Australian PM (also an advocate of overthrowing Gaddafi) said something along the lines of “the West must now help Libya build democracy and not become another Iran”. I thought, while his intentions may be noble, this naive soul must be uninformed about what happened in Iran post-monarchy. Someone ought to tell him that it isn’t up to the West to decide that in moslem countries. There is already a power struggle between Islamic and non-Islamic factions in Libya. Same goes for Egypt. Libya isn’t East Timor or Fiji.
I don’t know why he didn’t take off in a yacht. He was right on the coastline.
That makes a lot of sense, thanks.
