If there is to be a change to military retirement benefits, it must be applied prospectively, i.e. the current system for those currently in uniform, and the "newer" system for those that enter after the date of enactment.

As one who served at the advent of the all volunteer force, I am vehemently opposed to bringing back the draft in any form.

The only way I'd go with a draft is if there were no deferments, no way for the elites to buy their way out of it.

I agree. As a federal retiree myself, changes to federal retirement benefits (whether military or civilian) should apply only to new entrants into the federal workforce. That’s only fair to the current workforce, who have factored the existing benefit structure into their retirement planning.
