Republicans mock Obamas teleprompter use By Philip Rucker, Published: October 18
Its one of the very symbols of the presidency the ultimate accessory to the ultimate bully pulpit, seemingly trumpeting to all that the words being uttered actually matter.
So why, on the campaign trail, has the teleprompter instead become a symbol of ineptitude, mocked repeatedly by Republican candidates?
Picking up on a theme that has been rippling through GOP circles for two years, Republican presidential candidates are trying to use President Obamas reliance on teleprompters to deflate one of his biggest strengths his oratorical skill. If Obama cant give a two-minute speech without a screen telling him what to say, the critique goes, its a sign that he doesnt know what hes talking about and cant be trusted to do his job.
Obama ruined the teleprompter for the rest of the politicians, said Fred Davis, a media strategist who advised Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in his 2008 presidential run and, until this summer, Republican candidate and former ambassador Jon Huntsman Jr.
If you use it now, youre like Obama, Davis said. Its a negative because its a sign of inauthenticity. Its a sign that you cant speak on your own two feet. Its a sign that you have handlers behind you telling you what to say.

Rush is right, the left has realized their affirmative action President isn't up to the job!
THAT is funny! :)
So, choosing to not use a teleprompter, if you’re a Republican, is MOCKING the president, who can’t even talk to third graders without using it?
Oratorical skills by definition would exclude the use of a teleprompter. Enunciation skills is what this president possesses, a truly great orator would perhaps use notes to keep on track, but any speech is diminished greatly by having none of it committed to memory.
This whole discussion misses the real reason his speeches should be discounted-he inspires only division among us. He cajoles, he demeans, he talks down to us; in tone and content, he comes across as petulent, angry, and haughty.
No speech that has as its goal to inspire division can rise to the level of great oratory, because no speech that seeks to bring to the surface our most banal urges can possibly take us to a higher plane.
The use of the teleprompter merely symbolizes his ineptitude, his lack of moral authority to lecture us. With his incessant reliance on the word-feeder, Obama becomes the proverbial empty suit, a mere tool of some unknown string-puller.
Must now go to Attackwatch because of use of words ‘mock’ and ‘him’ meaning the President in the same sentence. Dear Leader must be respected.
Do your duty dear brother, the revolution will not be contained.
The Washington Post wasn’t running the story to embarrass Obama, but to paint Republicans as petty for criticizing Obama while using teleprompters themselves. The story fails to mention that, after repeated gaffes during off-the-cuff remarks during the 2008 campaign, Obama’s staff made sure that there were teleprompters in front of him for virtually every speech thereafter.
“So why, on the campaign trail, has the teleprompter instead become a symbol of ineptitude, mocked repeatedly by Republican candidates?”

Because without his teleprompter—Obama is inept.
The teleprompter isn’t inept, the clown that uses it is.
Because Dorothy missed him the most, and he really had his brain within him all along?
So when’s the last time Barry had a full-on press conference?
That pic has always looked fake to me. Do any of our Photoshop experts think so?
What I found the funniest is the way he swings his head from one teleprompter to the other, speaking in choppy little phrases.
He lost his speech writer, by the way.
When he’s without his teleprompter, that is when we get 57 States and er, er, eh, er, wait a minute, er, eh, er, er...
