Wall Street Occupiers Urged to Target Churches
Front Page Mag ^ | 10/17/2011 | Mark D. Tooley

Franky Schaeffer is the son of the late, highly influential evangelical thinker Francis Schaeffer, who helped shape the modern conservative evangelical movement. The son boasts he was himself a co-founder of the Religious Right. But he since has denounced Christianity as “stupid,” writes bitter tell-all books about his parents, and ferociously attacks conservative religionists as the virtual root cause of all American evils.

A blogger for The Huffington Post, young Schaeffer is now faulting religious conservatives for facilitating Wall Street greed. He’s imploring the Wall Street Occupiers to “protest the root source of America’s tilt to the far unregulated corporate right.” For Schaeffer, the next logical step is to demonstrate “outside mega churches, Evangelical publishing houses, [and] religious organizations that lead the ‘moral’ crusades against women and gays and all the rest.”

Will the Wall Street Occupiers heed Schaeffer’s frenzied call and next park their tents, blankets and anti-capitalist placards in the parking lots of suburban mega churches? It seems unlikely. But Schaeffer’s demand fits with the crazy Left’s sometime fixation on demonizing opponents based on class and religion.

Thirty years ago, young Schaeffer joined his father in critique of the secular Left. Today, he faults religious conservatives for the “insanity and corruption” that plagues America. In 2008, he endorsed Barack Obama and publicly demanded John McCain renounce his ostensibly “hate-filled supporters.” More recently, he’s slammed Obama’s critics as “racists.” All the energy he once channeled into what he derides as “fundamentalist” Christianity is now furiously focused against all the perceived representatives of his parents’ faith.

Not a fan of mega churches but if the communist crowd did this I’m sure the Christians would pray for them then feed them.

Same here. I WILL defend my church by force of arms.

Getting down to brass tacks at last.

yah? This crew of fine young masked citizens was outside of a church in North Portland, Oregon just last Sunday...

That's right, this church is a target and its members are all bigots because the church teaches that homosexuality is a sin.

It is fascinating to me that the OWS “protestors” are complaining about things being stolen from them.

Isn’t that what they want to do to the “1%?”

Except, rather than get their hands dirty (or dirtier than they already are), they want government to do the stealing for them!!

Somewhere, under 6 feet or more of dirt, those Americans who fought the Revolutionary War to gain not only freedom from England, but liberty and the ability to achieve whatever they wanted, are spinning in their graves!!!

This is NOT the America they fought to create!!! We are becoming the embodiment of Dante’s Inferno.

http://www.federalreserve.gov/bankinforeg/reglisting.htm

A list of regulations for the unregulated banking industry.

I can’t wait to see what the one looks like for the unregulated corporate right...if I can find one that compiles them all.

He has been taken by a strong dillusion and now serves that master, hating His own Savior and the very power and moral values that could bring him peace.

Instead, he is in the gall of bitterness.

Of course the progressive marxists will ultimately attack the Church. They understand in fact that those foundational Christian pinciples are in fact what fuels America's strength, her prosperity, her goodness, her power, and her liberty. They want to destroy all of these things.

The marxists and communists call it the "opiate" of the masses, when in truth it is the salve and healing cream that allow the masses to find peace and liberty. That is why progressives cannot tolerate it.

But they are serving a master who is on the losing side of this age-old, since the foundation of this earth, struggle.

WHAT OCCUPY WALL STREET IS ALL ABOUT

Like the rest of the OWS crowd, he’s working out daddy and monmy issues in the form of political theater.

I still get to watch Schaeffer’s “How Then Should We Live?” series where I am.

Remember though that they’re desperate for a martyr.

The MSM is breathlessly waiting to write about the “far right Tea Party member” who shot an innocent occupier.

A good @ss kicking would be far more effective than deadly force.

And based on the pics I’ve seen, it wouldn’t take too much to administer that.

Frankie’s brain slipped its tether to reality long ago. And that is not the only contrast with his father - whom I heard a number of times, and spoke to at least twice. Frankie has a nasty streak that I never heard in his father.

Truly sad.

So long as they don`t tread on that church`s property or commit acts of violence, not much can be done... violent attacks are a different story.

When the phrase “opiate of the masses” was coined, it was an age when doctors and pharmacies had far more freedom to use opiates as medicines than in today’s uptight, prohibitionist age. An equivalent phrase today would have to read something like “aspirin of the masses.” It was the thing that made a painful life tolerable. Socialist revolutionaries had to take that away, to make life intolerable again, before they could sell their own humanistic nostrums.

Too be fair, Franky Schaffer has not renounced Christianity (at least the last time I checked). He still claims to be a very liberal Christian.

Besides that I have nothing kind to say about the man, because he constantly promotes an anti-evangelical message incorporating the latest MSNBC talking points of the week. A very dangerous person, who while being very intelligent on his own, seems to let the Democratic Party do most of his thinking while putting his own crusade against the religious right into the mix.

Occupy Zuccotti Park? Few or no protestors go from there to march on Wall Street businesses? Amazing how it’s misrepresented in the news if that’s so.
