Chris Christie: I understand Occupy Wall Street ("Tea Party and the OWS closely aligned")

New Jersey Republican governor Chris Christie said Tuesday that he understands the growing Occupy Wall Street movement, adding that demonstrators have a right to be upset with the economy.

“What they’re saying is ‘The government’s not working for me anymore, the government is not being fair, the government is not helping me the way that they should,’” Mr. Christie told a crowd of supporters.

“I understand why they’re angry. Because you look down at what’s happening in Washington, D.C., it should disgust all of us,” the New Jersey Republican added. “You have a president who’s unwilling to drag people to the same room and bang heads and force solutions. You have Congress in both parties who won’t talk to each other. … At the same time we have people out in the country who are suffering. And they’re playing games in Washington, D.C.”

Mr. Christie, who announced earlier this month that he would not seek the Republican presidential nomination, also noted that the Tea Party and the Occupy Wall Street movements were closely aligned. The New Jersey Republican said the two are the results of the same frustration and simply represent a different point of the political ideology spectrum.

Mr. Christie’s comments echo similar statements made by President Obama. Speaking Tuesday, Mr. Obama also said the two groups were closely aligned.

And there are people who actually clamored for this guy to be the republican presidential nominee?

Ann Coulter is still on suicide watch because this guy isn’t running..what a buffoon he is. The Occupy Wall Street hippie freaks have NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING in common with the tea party. No one in the tea party ever took a crap on a cop car or got arrested or were endorsed by the Communist Party and the Nazi Party..hey Christie, buy a clue!

This is not complicated stuff...the Tea Party folks are opposed to government bailouts of anyone; the One World Socialists (OWS) are demanding theirs.

What a pathetically lame-brained ignorant answer.

And Christie is supposedly one of the “smart” politicians.

He HAS a clue!

He knows exactly what he is doing...trying to marginalize, and slander the Tea Party.

“What they’re saying is ‘The government’s not working for me anymore, the government is not being fair, the government is not helping me the way that they should,’”

And the response should be, “Anyone who is waiting for the government to make them happy, healthy or wealthy will die bitter, sick and poor.”

But Christie’s response is, “Because you look down at what’s happening in Washington, D.C., it should disgust all of us,”

What a butt-wipe! No wonder the establishment GOP wanted him to run.

Christie needs to go schedule a meeting with David Horowitz so he can learn who these people are. If he changes his tune afterward, ok. If not, he needs to be shunned for being the RINO of the century.

Many great conservative talkers suffer from one problem. F.O.R.C.C.

Fear. Of. Real. Constitutional. Conservatism.

Such punditry and elitetry are stuffed with themselves and have a FORCC in them.

They depufferate under threat of a RCC getting into office, like a delicate souffle deflates when poked too early.

No, you leftist oaf. What they're saying is "we want the gov't to control the means of production." And "give us more free stuff." And "Jewish bankers control the world." And "Che for President!" And "from each according to his ability....."

The only conservative thing Christie has ever done was to make a couple of great YouTube videos near the beginning of his term, attacking the teachers union.

But as far as I’ve heard, that was just words. What has he done? His actual behavior is that of a typical New Jersey RINO, much like his predecessor of the same name, Christie Whitman.

...the Tea Party folks are opposed to government bailouts of anyone; the One World Socialists (OWS) are demanding theirs.

Maybe the Governor should open today's WSJ:

“The protesters have a distinct ideology and are bound by a deep commitment to radical left-wing policies. On Oct. 10 and 11, Arielle Alter Confino, a senior researcher at my polling firm, interviewed nearly 200 protesters in New York's Zuccotti Park. Our findings probably represent the first systematic random sample of Occupy Wall Street opinion.

Our research shows clearly that the movement doesn't represent unemployed America and is not ideologically diverse. Rather, it comprises an unrepresentative segment of the electorate that believes in radical redistribution of wealth, civil disobedience and, in some instances, violence. Half (52%) have participated in a political movement before, virtually all (98%) say they would support civil disobedience to achieve their goals, and nearly one-third (31%) would support violence to advance their agenda.”
