The U.S. Justice Department has entered into a consent decree with Berkeley School District 87 that will resolve a religious accommodations lawsuit filed in December 2010. In the lawsuit, the government accused the suburban Chicago district of denying middle school teacher Safoorah Khan unpaid leave to make a pilgrimage to Mecca. The district said a pilgrimage is unrelated to her professional duties and was not set forth in the contract between the school district and the teachers union. Kahn later quit. The government said the school district's stance violated the 1964 Civil Rights Act because it failed to reasonably accommodate Kahn's religious practices. If the consent is approved by a federal court, the school district will pay $75,000...

Sounds like what I would expect from the Obama-ites. I bet if had been Jewish, and wanted to make a pilmigrage to Jerusalem, or Catholic, and a trip to Rome, the Justice Department would have been as quiet as the proverbial mouse.
I hope the Judge has some courage and throws the settlement, and the lawsuit out. But I’m not holding my breath.
This IS Illinois we’re talking about here, not some sensible state of the Union.

They didn’t “deny her unpaid leave” -
She quit to go on vacation.
She has a CONTRACT. She did not honor her CONTRACT.
Wrap the check in bacon and give it to her. As soon as she touches it - take it back, and sue her for fraud.
They only get away with this because it is taxpayer $.
