There were people speaking here against hte fence. But, much like Cain’s “killer electric fence”, most of us realised that “build the fence” wasn’t a serious call to build a fence around our entire country, so we didn’t really think it was worth arguing over a slogan and a soundbite.

For the purpose of defeating the immigration bill, “build the fence” was the perfect slogan. Don’t take that as some universal acceptance of a fenced-in country. I’m certain that you do not support building a fence along the gulf or pacific coasts, so you aren’t really a “full fence everywhere” person either. You just have a different sense of where the “strategic fencing” should be built.

And I still don’t mind supporting a candidate who says “build the fence”, or even a candidate who claims they will build a fence along the entire border. Because I DO want a fence where it makes sense, and in the end, NO candidate once elected is going to build a fence where it doesn’t make sense.

When they get down to it, they will hire people, and those people will be smart, and will evaluate the border, and will make recommendations, and the person we elect will realise that strategic fencing is the way to go. Perry already KNOWS this because he actually has to defend a border. Most don’t, because they have never done a THING to secure a border.

Heck, I wouldn’t even disqualify Cain for saying he’d build a killer electric fence. It’s a stupid thing to say, but I know he’ll never build it, or even an electric fence, because he’s a smart guy and will understand when his smart advisors explain that his billion-dollar electric fence can be circumvented with a dollar’s worth of copper wire and a rock.

You know what the “electric fence” would be good for? If you wired it right, the shorting out would indicate a crossing, so we’d know where to go to catch them. That’s boots on the ground, and you don’t actually need the fence or the elctricity to do that, just some good ground sensors. We can detect subs entering our territorial waters, we can certainly figure out how to detect people crossing our border, and send interceptors to stop them.

Perry believes in border security, he disagrees with you on how to achieve that goal.

You are right in many points in your post. The real tragedy in all this (so far) is that Perry was at 41 percent and now is at around 7 percent. It is not over but really eventually the Perry supporters are going to have to analyze and make some decisions. Tonight is going to be very telling. I am very excited to see how the candidates do. It is possible that tonight is make or break for some. I would imagine that you are hoping that Perry does well. Eventually he probably will....after going through enough debates eventually you should get with the program. Well until the debate, have a great day!!!!!
