"It was a joke," Cain said emphatically. "I apologize if I offended anyone. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea culpa."

His national campaign staff is bigger than Perry’s. By quite a bit, in fact. He doesn’t seem to have much of a state organization yet, but he built a large top-heavy executive organization.
He had 4 staffers during the TN trip. (Including the bus driver)
To do what? Call you names like a lib? Nope. No need. Anyone wanting to take you seriously just needs to view your post history from the last few days. That says pretty much all they need to know.
“But you, a supporter, are claiming that his stupid statements are in fact what he believes, and later he lies about it.”
I would change the word “stupid” to “initial”. From there he’s made his point, and it becomes time to do what EVERY politician does (except Alan Keyes, and you can where that got him). Same with Perry...he knows full-well that his initial comment of “heartless” regarding Dream Act opponents is EXACTLY what he thinks...but then he’s also forced to try to take it back (of course he looks at Dream Act opponents as heartless...that’s been the way he’s governed here in Texas for a decade). I also understand why Perry couldn’t let his initial remark stand.
The big difference is that the base believes both initial comments, but agrees with Cain.
I’m surprised you know so little about how politics works in the real word (or did you work for Keyes...LOL).
But when asked later in the news conference why he refused to take ownership of the comments, Cain said that he did, and that he was only apologizing if he offended anyone.
But he said he wouldn’t apologize for proposing a combination of tactics to crack down on illegal immigration.
Do you remember the Pope’s non apology? I think this is another non apology. ;) He didn’t apologize for the comment, only that it might have offended some! LOL
He thinks he can say what he wants to mislead people in small crowds, then when he is called out on it--he says it is a joke.
His "sense of humor" and lack of foreign policy experience is liable to start a war!
He is no better than Romney with his flip flops.
“But when asked later in the news conference why he refused to take ownership of the comments, Cain said that he did, and that he was only apologizing if he offended anyone.”
Thanks...I was just thinking that after I posted. It was a half-apology, like good politicians do. He NEVER said that he was now against a wired border fence.
Perry did a similar half-apology for Gardacil (the drug that allows teens to have wild and crazy sex without consequences, or with less consequences). Perry said he regretted not going through the state legislature...he never said it was a mistake to mandate the shots.
Sorry, we can’t find “www.auggieconservatives.org”. We suggest that you check the spelling of the web address or search above.
Yeah, we'll call you "The Killer" from now on! LOL
Good point! Like the criminal that regrets his actions, but only because he got caught! :)
Plus, Texas is not “spending” money on illegals for college education. Although liberals like to call not taking your money “spending”, conservatives don’t usually.
The in-state tuition is enough to pay the incremental costs of college for the student. So Texas is “forgoing additional revenue”, but it isn’t giving the illegals money.
That distinction is lost on those who vote by soundbite and support personality over substance.
Hey, I used to wire and assemble cable harnesses for the M1A1 tank. I'm for that. Let's get America back to work!
So, I assume we are not supposed to be offended by Cain supporters calling people pinheads, but we are supposed to disqualify a conservative candidate with a decade of successful conservative governance because he said “don’t have a heart”.
Touche! ;^)
When you use the language of a liberal, why does it shock you when someone points it out?
WTF was that! LOL
Stop wasting my time.
No, this will probably be another thread where people explain why it is wrong, and you will ignore it and move on to another thread and claim that no one will answer your question.
Trespassing is not a capital offense. No person who respects life would ever think to kill someone solely for being somewhere they are not supposed to be.
If you ever have a kid, you better pray that nobody thinks it is OK to kill people for trespassing, because every kid will trespass over someone’s property some day.
So, maybe YOU could explain why some 25-year-old unarmed woman who is crossing the border because she can’t find a job in her country and believes that she can survive in America should be killed on sight.
Of course, maybe you aren’t pro-life. That would explain your blood lust.
That's a bold-faced lie. Cain never said that.
I don’t see why saying Romney didn’t have a heart would disqualify a candidate for President. We say a lot worse about Obama all the time.
And I have a feeling the general electorate aren’t all whiny sissies who are so easily offended by political rhetoric. Usually it’s just liberals that play the overly-sensitive “you hurt my feelings” game. I’ve never seen so many conservatives with such easily bruised psyche’s.
