It’s now a “9999” plan: 9 percent personal income tax, 9 percent national sales tax, 9 percent business tax, and a 9 amp jolt if you try to illegally cross into the US.
Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Saturday that part of his immigration policy would be to build an electrified fence on the countrys border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally.
The remarks, which came at two campaign rallies in Tennessee as part of a barnstorming bus tour across the state, drew loud cheers from crowds of several hundred people at each rally. At the second stop, in Harriman, Tenn., Mr. Cain added that he also would consider using military troops with real guns and real bullets on the border to stop illegal immigration.

It is not the first time that Mr. Cain has floated the idea of an electrified fence. He has told the story many times of a caller to his former radio show who chastised him for talking about building a border fence, saying that such an idea was impractical. Mr. Cain often says he told the caller that he had recently returned from China, and if the Chinese could build the Great Wall then America could build a border fence.
Before we assume that Herman Cain’s suggestion will cause Democrats or even select Republicans to throw even more scorn in his direction, I’d suggest this: Cain could win over many of them simply by saying that in his border plan, the fence would be electrified with power provided by solar panels the government purchased from stimulus-backed green energy companies.
Okay, but its a very naive plan by someone who doesnt have much of a clue about the Texas border.
Are you mocking some guy because he thinks an electric fence running down the middle of the Rio Grande is a great idea that Perry was too stupid to realize?
Cain likes simple plans that sound good in sound bites.
No, the Twitter Nation likes everything simplified down to 140 characters including complex national policies that will effect the world for generations to come.
sounds like a killer fence to me
999z!
Yeah, I know, but I have had worse sources than that before ;)
Think of what it would do for us.
Create tons of jobs.
Also, think about the types of jobs it creates. These are high wage jobs! Throw in some nuclear power plants and we are talking energy independence.
we don’t need mexico
Hell YES!
Electrify it, land mine it, moats with gators that don’t eat dogs, and dogs that shoot bees out of their mouths when they bark!
<3 Herman cain.
ummmm - ok
Perry is MEXICO. I would never cast my vote for Mexico.
BOTH of them as well as almost every candidate has proposed the immediate start up of the energy section of our economy.
In fact, Sarah Palin was the first drill baby drill proponent.
Perry just caught the headline because he was a day late and a dollar short at the “Economy” debate last week.
I don't believe Perry is going to raise much in the polls. He will be lucky if he is in the top 5 in the next few days.
JMHO
Do you love his empowerment (entitlement) zones?
Only if they are electrified.
I have actually been to national conventions and heard all of them speak live. Perry has been dealing with energy for a LONG time and fighting with the EPA which I am sure he will abolish. Herman in his speeches has said he will restructure the EPA. Big difference. EPA is a program we probably could do without.
lol
Not quite.
” Mr. Cain often says he told the caller that he had recently returned from China, and if the Chinese could build the Great Wall then America could build a border fence. “
It apparently took centuries to build the Great Wall
and it’s not a continuous wall, but, a series of short walls
because of the terrain.
I’m on my third trip to my city planning and zoning commission
to get approval for a backyard garden shed .
The logistics , red tape and legal challenges to building an actual fence of over 1200 miles would no doubt
be a lengthy nightmare.
If we can send a drone to kill al -Awlaki in Yemen, we should be able to effectively use them to patrol the border.
Perry has been calling for strategic fencing around the
larger metropolitan areas since he announced
in August .
In addition to Predator drones, cameras and
thousands more National Guard troops in the more rural areas.
HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! You really believe that? I suppose you think they come here for the weather.
Surely, they don't want to get free goodies or take jobs from US citizens. NO! That can't possibly be the reason they want to come here. /s
OMG! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!
EPA came into existence partly because states were complaining about airborne and waterborne pollutants from neighboring states. It seemed a way around all the lawsuits between states. Now it’s a monster in its own right.
