It is racist to use racist terms, and it is extremely counterproductive to bund such terms to the name of Herman Cain, whom I would be happy to see win the nomination.

Again, Herman Cain would repudiate the terms that the poster I replied to used, which were "Honkeys for Herman" and "Crackers for Cain".

I stand by my objections 100%.

For historical interest, you should know that "Cracker" is a time-honored name for the people of southern Georgia and northern Florida that trace their roots back for many generations. The term reflects their pioneer roots.

"Florida Cracker" and "Georgia Cracker" are the historical equivalent of "Oklahoma Sooner", "California Forty-Niner" and "Carolina Tar Heel",

Just so you know.

Florida Cracker: Florida cracker refers to original colonial-era English and American pioneer settlers of what is now the U.S. state of Florida, and their descendants. .... The term "cracker" in Florida usage relates to the whip that cowboys used to "crack" cattle out of the swamps and scrub. ..... Modern usage The term is used as a proud or jocular self-description. Since the huge influx of new residents into Florida from the northern parts of the United States and from Mexico and Latin America in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, the term "Florida Cracker" is used informally by some Floridians to indicate that their families has lived in the state for many generations. It is considered a source of pride to be descended from "frontier people who did not just live but flourished in a time before air conditioning, mosquito repellent, and screens."

Enthusiastic Cain supporters using a form of self-deprecating humor. Lighten up.

I understood that ‘Honkey’ is a derogatory term used by blacks to describe the nasal speaking voice of whites and ‘cracker’ to describe the person who would whip slaves slacking off in the cotton fields. Seems counter productive to whip your workers - so probably a lie.

Just go with;
Honk if you love Herman!!!
and
I’m crackers (crazy) for Cain!!!
