Spoke with a Tea Party friend of mine the other day post the debate and we were discussing Newt coming from behind on the outside....
We noted yes, Newt is doing good and is brilliant, but my friend who is more tempered than me in terms of what is do-able, I tend to think more out of the box, he mentioned Newt as VP...
Why? My friend is a huge Herman suppporter going back 1.5 years now when he started visiting the Tea Parties here in Michigan. He also noted, Herman has not been in Gov't. Newt has, and knows the levers of power and procedures to get things done and also how screwed up things are.
Newt would be the same type of "DC" assest that Cheney was to GWB. GWB might have been Governor, but he didn't know the ways of DC. Our guess is Cheney helped in that area more than we know.
Seriously think about it, it may work better than we realize, they are both idea guys but I don't see them butting heads, they may actually see things eye to eye.
DUDE, Newt is about making money, that is it. THat is all, complete and whole. Take a look at his PAC . They shake down little old ladies for their money, and do nothing. THERE IS NO WAY people would vote for NEWT. ZERO. Move along.
I have been thinking of Newt as Cain’s VP for a while.
My only concern is that Newt still has “loose cannon” disease that comes out of nowhere for a while.
Such as he’s been on a roll and then I hear he just released a paper on a “middle way” on immigration. Haven’t seen the paper yet, but it made me cringe because it is just so Gingrich to take three steps forward, then want to prove he’s not a bombthrower and take four steps backward.
But as to the VP slot, my concern is that Newt would have to be very honorable and disciplined (seemingly one of his shortcomings) in respecting the fact that President Cain is his boss. Newt can get a bee in his bonnet at any time and, not maliciously, he could get out in front of the President or undermine him just by Newt being Newt.
Cain is a serious CEO type, but the VP cannot be fired, only marginalized.
BTW, Haley Barbour was out yesterday saying Cain could sweep the south. Struck me as maybe he was angling for a VP consideration, too.
