I’m warming up to Newt.
However, he polls as bad against Obama as Palin...so that is a worry I’d have. Plus he’ll be 69 (same age as Reagan, I know) on Election Day.

Newt as Pres?
The Newt who cheated his wife, endorsed Scozzafava over conservative in NY, was in Global Warming ads in Nancy Pelosi and (I vaguely remember) is pro-illegal panderer similar to Jose Perry. He is The Convservative Answer?
Give me a break.
He would be ok VP, though (i.e. zero policy making authority but great in debates and defending the administration).
Cain has still long way to go, but at least he has a realistic chance. He has to be seen as up to date in foreign policy (at least not totally clueless, like not knowing “right to return” etc). He should get John Bolton in his team. That would calm me.

Watch Fox news and other GOP elites double their efforts to knock Cain and promote Romney.

A lot of people here with other favorites claim Cain isn’t qualified because he doesn’t have the political experience. As I pointed out on another thread last evening, that isn’t a qualification for the presidency as outlined in the US Constitution. In addition, the implication is one has to be a Washington insider or close to it (governor of a state...who likely has major ties to Washington) in order to qualify in their estimation.
That flies in the face of what we are all about. How can we say we’re serious about downsizing government, bringing power back to the people, and retaking control over a workable Constitutional Republic if we don’t honor those outside of government who’ve proven themselves as leaders? It’s a bogus argument from frightened people; frightened because they see their candidate losing popularity.

Time for Sarah to start touring with Herman.
This is a good point to ponder...folks out there, please also comment/pontificate on this point.
Here’s what I’d like to see happen.
1. Cain stops painting himself in a corner by saying, 999 is a starting point; when I surround myself by great doers and thinkers, we’ll as a team come up with the best tax scenario to create jobs, and bring this great country back, yada yada
2. Palin reaches out to Cain behind the scenes
3. Cain and/or Palin reach out to Gingrich for VP...this is the trickiest as Palin may want VP, not sure...many have said, no, that ain’t gonna happen. Also, it would be presumptuous on Cain’s part and that may not be smart. Also, Gingrich may be fine with being Romney’s VP as he still has rino solar flares once in a while.
What’s ya’lls take?

The White House, and particularly Obama, generally SILENT about Herman Cain, speaks VOLUMES. The silence is deafening. They don't know WHAT their position is, they don't know HOW to attack him. Liberal heads are exploding Yep... it's all so...
UNEXPECTED!!!

The Tea Party supports a Sales Tax and a VAT No, they do not.
As as been pointed out to you in hundreds of posts, you are merely lying about what is in 9-9-9.
Instead of continuing to lie, learn what is actually in 9-9-9.

Cain 29% Romney 29% Gingrich 10% If we could have Cain's character, Newt's brains, and Romney's hair, we would be unbeatable.

>> NOBODY is talking about a VAT.
It doesn’t take a genius to see that the so-called “national sales tax” will soon morph into a VAT, whether they’re talking about it, or not.
Coding another revenue stream into federal law is just a really, really bad idea.

I don’t know why people pay attention to GE matchups at this point. No meaningful poll can be taken of the GE until the candidates are chosen and running their campaign.
At that point, reality sets in and people have to make a choice. To think that they have made a choice that is graven in stone at this point in the cycle is the height of foolishness.

Sales tax and VAT are the essentially the same thing. What’s wrong with taxing consumption and easing/simplifying/lowering taxes on income? I for one an sick of the use of the trillion page tax code to manipulate human economic behavior.

"EAGLES UP! DEFCON 3! ESTABLISHMENT THREATENED!!"
Herman Cain who truly was until recently a virtual unknown had faith enough in himself to decide to run for President of the United States on his own. There was no Media hype/pressure/build-up about a possible run, there was no urging by members of the Party, no words spoken into his ear by party players, elites, beltway boys or pundits, not even a word of encouragement from the Republican Party of his home state only faith in himself. Now after months of being treated as being a inconsequential candidate the curious sideshow of a conservative black Republican, he is now in the top tier along with people of great party pull, of men with experienced political machines and the dollars to power them. He did that on his own with no help from anyone accept by his own. Now think what a man with faith in himself like that could accomplish if given the chance.
Now many are saying Cain hasnt a chance with his little formal organization and even less money.
Well let me remind all of you of what a recent movement did with no formal organization and even less money, The Tea Party.
The Tea Party manage with both those weakness to go on and change the political landscape and causing Leftist members of govenment, ellitist of both political parties and media types to quake in fear of them and their rath and all with only a minimum of formal organization and on a shoe string budget.
Thats what sucessful AMERICANS do they start out with what they have and they MAKE IT WORK! They make it work because what they dont have in manpower or money they make-up with brains, sweat, blood and last but most important faith.

Several things I notice:
1) 3 NATIONAL POLLS ( WSJ/NBC, PPP and now Rasmussen ) CONSISTENLY show Herman Cain nearing the 1/3 mark.
It remains to be seen whether he can sustain this. His 9-9-9 will be receiving SUSTAINED attack BOTH from Liberals AND Conservatives.
2) Romney was stuck at the 23 to 25% level for months but seems to have broken off and now reaching towards 29%. This could mean that those still hoping for a Christie run are moving towards him as the alternative ( now that the fat one has endorsed him ).
3) Newt Gingrich seems to be on the rise as well. Might be VP material. If Cain wins and he wants Newt as VP, Newt might have to officially shift his residency from Georgia to the Virginia/DC area ( where he spends most of his time anyway ). can’t have two Georgians running in tandem.
To: dragonblustar
Especially BOR he gets on my nerves when I see him dismissing Cain and promoting Romney.
