Handicapping IAC’s Investment in Chelsea Clinton
By STEVEN M. DAVIDOFF

Chelsea Clinton as a corporate director? Really?

Ms. Clinton was appointed last week to the board of IAC/InterActiveCorp, the Internet media conglomerate controlled by Barry Diller.

For her efforts, Ms. Clinton will be paid about $300,000 a year in cash and incentive stock awards. Not bad for a 31-year-old in graduate school.

Is IAC also getting a good deal, or is this another eye-rolling celebrity appointment?

Ms. Clinton appears to be a smart, capable individual. She worked in her 20s at the consulting firm McKinsey & Company and at a hedge fund run by a loyal Clinton donor. She is now working at New York University and pursuing a doctorate at Oxford. Ms. Clinton appears to be level-headed, despite growing up in the limelight. She is also popular — her wedding last year was one of the social events of the year.

Yeah. It sure pays to be born at the right place and time.

Sort of.

"Another argument IAC could advance is that Ms. Clinton has an extensive network of contacts who can help the company’s business, and there is evidence that celebrity director appointments do create value this way."

You betcha! Will Warren Buffett or Harry Reid pick up a phone call from me? From Chelsea Clinton? This is crony capitalism at it's finest.

Where’s the outrage by the left at her salary and benefits?

Can you imagine the reaction from the corrupt liberal media if one of the Bush daughters were to get in on a gig like this? There would be outrage and cries of special treatment, political connections, and probing questions about their qualifications.

How’s her husband?

Did he decide to come home after getting the “ski-bum” thing out of his system?

"Good for her!"

Yes indeed, she has parlayed intelligence, competence and connections into a career path headed towards wealth and power. The All-American dream. The danger is that she might well become a national political force come 2020.

Is the NYT suggesting that her list of contacts is any more extensive, more influential or more monied than Barry Diller’s own list?

The Clinton’s used Diller and his friends for Bill’s and Hillary’s elections. They sure don’t need any contacts of Chelsea Clinton’s.

This is really no different than the Board appointment Ms. Obama received from U of Chicago hospital when her husband was elected to the Senate. Except that I DO think Chelsea Clinton is smart.

Whatever will be will be. If she has weathered being in the spotlight as a not very attractive child/teen-ager, grew up with the parents she has, and still was able to accomplish this much, I say it again—good for her!

What did Amy Carter ever do with her life, I wonder....

Is this what they mean by “Crony Capitalism”?

Did she get the job based on her ability demonstrated by working her way up without preferential treatment?

Do hogs love slop?

I think her “husband” is the same type as Obama. Mooch and Chelsea are beards. In the case of Chelsea it may be a shock to her. I believe Mooch knew what she was getting into when she married a guy that lots knew was on the down low.

Clinton is using connections for what connections are meant.

One must however note that she had to bail from McKinsey and then the hedge fund where results are required. Her pursuit of doctorate is the equivalent of “spending more time with the family” excuse of getting fired in government.

according to the the National Enquirer hubby (weird looking dude) came home from the ski slopes and the happy couple are taking classes in tantric sex and hoping to make Hillary a Granny

After Clintons spent or mooched $2 million on C-C’s wedding, Dude better shape up and service the daughter of Hildabeast or he will end up being invited to a picnic lunch at Ft Marcy park, maybe along with Tony Weiner and hosted by Tony’s MB in-laws

(OK, my bad.... and bad visuals too)

$300K for a board position? Is that a new record?

I realize that presidents’ families usually don’t live in the real world that we have to deal with..............that’s just the way it is. However, I think Chelsea has done all right, and mainly has managed to stay out of the spotlight.

Free booze at the board meetings? If so it’s an even better deal than the 300K a year!

No, no -- good visuals, like future history seen in a mirror darkly.

All those people are like a can of worms in heat.

What, $300K after ten years? Are you nuts?

That's sweeter than Mom's deal with the Rose Law Firm.
