A new Rasmussen poll is pouring salt on Texas Gov. Rick Perry's wounds.
The struggling one-time front-runner is now trailing President Barack Obama in a head-to-head matchup 49 percent to 35 percent. Obama was leading Perry six or fewer points in two recent Rasmussen polls and Perry narrowly polled ahead of Obama in early September.
Perry would fare worse than businessman Herman Cain, who in a poll last week trailed Obama 42 percent to 39 percent. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney polls even with Obama the best of the Republican presidential candidates.

As you write this, I saw my first Obama 2012 bumper sticker. It has his face inside the “0” of 2012. It’s a very small sticker. People who truly believe in the false promises will never change.
I'm not currently behind any of these candidates yet, but from watching Perry at the Bloomberg debate, he looked awful.
How do you go to a debate focused only on one thing, the economy, and have no prepared details other than rambling on about energy?
This isn't surprising at all. Obama's bedrock level of support is in the mid-40's.
And much the same is now being done to Cain. Many FReepers long for Palin and haven't yet come to grips with the fact she's not running.
How much do you want to bet that it will not be that choice?
