Actually, I tipped over with “dirtboy”’s post to you in #110.

I’d been thinking of developing some answer to “build the fence” for the last few days and when I saw that post, I went to work.

The first post I developed was pulled for too much content. So he may not have seen it.

So now that I’m thinking about it, I’m gonna ping him to the two posts re the border topography.

You’re doing a helluva job, CW. Thanks and keep it up. I’ll do what I can to help.

DIRTBOY...pinging you to post #191 and #197 in this thread re “building the fence”. I see that you’re from Pennsylvania and you’ve probably got lots of time down here on the border.

This is just to bring back memories of the times you’ve spent down here.

Thanks for all the pings, Chas! The pictures and your comments are strong stuff. Only the willfully blind can ignore the futility and idiocy of attempting to completely fence off the border.

I notice “dirtboy” is apparently from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. Just for all y’all that don’t know, we Pennsylvanians don’t consider Philadelphia a part of Pennsylvania. It’s an armpit that keeps us from being a solid red state. We’d give it to New Jersey if they’d take it.

Nice try. I happen to have lived five years in Texas - been all over the state, including San Elena Canyon and the Valley ... and my parents have lived in Texas for the last three decades.

I long ago said there was no need to fence the top of San Elena Canyon and the other canyons of Big Bend. However, the flatter areas need fencing - as SW Arizona shows, the desert is no barrier in and of itself.

But go ahead - keep indulging in strawman arguments against a fence. Meanwhile, Perry keeps sinking in the polls because he refuses to take this matter seriously. Voters have seen the virtual fence fail. Drones by themselves would be no different. Technology and boots make a fence more effective but cannot replace it.

Until Perry shows he can pivot to a national, not a state view on illegal immigration and border security, he will keep floundering. I know you will blame everyone but Perry as you keep trying to come up with new ways to spin this. But the problem is of his creation and no amount of spin will change that. Only Perry coming around will.
